Nuclear Anti-Terror Fears over Mexican Border
Security is being stepped up at the border between the US and Mexico amid new intelligence that al Qaida aims to smuggle nuclear material through a crossing point.

A senior US security official told Time Magazine that a recent captive in the war on terror admitted to “al Qaida’s interest in moving nuclear materials from Europe to either the US or Mexico”.

Sharif al-Masri, an Egyptian, was captured in late August near Pakistan’s border with Iran and Afghanistan.

According to the intelligence report Masri said al Qaida has considered plans to “smuggle nuclear materials to Mexico, then operatives would carry material into the US”.

3. Much easier to use a container ship.....
Most of the containers aren't inspected & I bet the nuclear material can be kinda heavy. And a bit "hot."

5. That's why this story is BS
Al Qaeda isn't stupid.

They know about the crackdown on the Mexican border during the last year, and how shipping containers are not being inspected because of a lack of inspectors and equipment.

They also know many containers will be passed through without inspection so that stores can stock shelves for the holiday season.

There was a report in the L.A. Times on how companies are forcing shipping containers to get fast-tracked through the ports so that the goods could make it to the shelves in time for the spending season.

7. If al Qaeda Doesn't Smack the US in the US, They'll Smack Us...
If al Qaeda doesn't smack us here in the US, I wouldn't put it past them to carry out a terrorist strike at a US tourist "playground" in Mexico or the Caribbean.

I think that Osama bin Laden was delighted with Gee Dubya's re-election. We all know that he played rope-a-dope with Dubya during Dubya's first term despite the US invasion of Afghanistan, and he'll be back to do more.

I wouldn't put it past bin Laden to attack a red state target not only to hit the US, but also to humiliate our Imperious Leader.

8. I'd bet you the weapons are already "in country".
I'd bet you the weapons are already "in country". And if not, they'll
be smuggled-in with Chinese, North Korean, or Russian help, not by
people dragging them across the Rio Grande.

It's now just a question of timing their use for best effect.

(I just hope that bin Laden meant what he said and that
they target the Red Zone this time!)
