US may change Iraq resolution
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3084966.stm

The United States has signalled its willingness to consider changes to a draft UN resolution which it hopes will broaden the international effort to stabilise Iraq.

The US presented its plan for a multinational force in Iraq at an informal UN Security Council meeting hosted by the UK mission in New York.

The draft resolution has already been criticised by France, Germany and Russia - countries which also opposed the US-led invasion of Iraq.

US Secretary of State Colin Powell said Washington would "listen to all of the comments coming in".

5. I notice that the U.S. brings up past resolutions
They encourage the U.N. to act on them. The U.N. should hold up 1441 and say act on this. The U.S. violated 1/3 of the resolution 1441. Iraq violated none of it.

7. i'm of two minds about this
on the one hand i think the u.s. should bear all the burden of this murderous adventurism -- let the citizens feel what they've asked for.
on the other hand -- the rebuilding and institutionalising democracy in iraq is rightfully a full on u.n. job. and that would be best for the iraqi people.

"I further
determine that the United States is engaged in armed
hostilities and that it is in the interest of the
United States to confiscate certain additional property
of the former Iraqi regime, certain senior officials of
the former regime, immediate family members of those
officials, and controlled entities. I intend that such
property, after all right, title, and interest in it
has vested in the Department of the Treasury, shall be
transferred to the Development Fund for Iraq"
