BAGHDAD, Nov. 15 (Xinhuanet) -- A medium-rank US officer serving in Baghdad was charged with wrongful killing of an Iraqi and allowing a murder, the US military said on Monday.

Secondary Lieutenant Erick J. Anderson has been charged with premeditated murder and conspiracy to commit premeditated murder, the 1st US Cavalry Division announced.

A US military statement said that the allegations were under investigation by the US authorities and specific events relating to the charges could "not be discussed in detail at this time."

The case was the latest among several similar allegations surfacing in the US forces in Iraq. Last month, two soldiers of the same company with Anderson were charged with murdering an Iraqi in Sadr City, a Shiite slum in eastern Baghdad.

This is an example of a couple of dumb asses who failed in their leadership responsibilities.

They should be courts martialed and locked away. People like this have no place in the military.

Any leader worth his/her grain in salt will step up and say the buck stops with them. That is what pissed me off about Abu Graib, that chick General was incompetent.

As a career Marine, I take it personally when people blame the administration or "higher ups" for the incompetence of individual leaders. Accountability for leadership should only have to reach down about two levels.

To say the President has any say over how I do my job is to say I am ineffective.
