Iraq seeks to curb press freedoms
Iraq's media regulator has warned news organisations to stick to the government line on the US-led attack in Falluja or face legal action.

Invoking a 60-day state of emergency declared by Iraq's interim government ahead of the assault currently underway, Iraq's Media High Commission on Thursday demanded news media to distinguish between fighters and residents of Falluja.

The authority, set up by the former US governor of Iraq, is intended to be independent of the government to encourage investment in the media and deter state meddling after decades of strict control under Saddam Hussein.

However, the commission statement sent to various media outlets during the day bore the letterhead of the Iraqi prime minister's office.

3. Oh Look they are following our lead
Just like Putin says he was when he proposed turning more of the Governmental duties back over to the Kremlin and having people stop voting on some offices because of the Terror attack there. Isn't it grand that Bush can push HIS idea of Democracy around the world now.

Now they just have to show proper appreciation and tell the world how wonderful the American brand of freedom is, right?

I wonder how long it will take for the world to forgive us.

;(

Edited to fix typo.

7. I'm surprised that our media giants have not bought up their
media yet. They would not need special censors then.
