Nader has till Friday to pay $2,000 filing fee to launch N.H. recount
Providence Journal website: http://www.projo.com/cgi-bin/include.pl/blogs/shenews/archives/week131.htm#nad

Nader has till Friday to pay $2,000 filing fee to launch N.H. recount:

Independent Presidential candidate Ralph Nader has until Friday to pay a $2,000 filing fee to request a recount of New Hampshire votes and to pledge to cover the costs of the count.

Kevin Zeese, a spokesman for Nader's campaign, said that N.H. Secretary of State Phil Gardner, a Democrat, has agreed to the new deadline.

Nader held a press conference in Washington, D.C. this afternoon to confirm his faxed request for a recount, filed one minute before Friday's 5 p.m. deadline.

Zeese said Nader will ask that votes be recounted in particular wards -- urban areas where 78 percent of the votes were cast using the Diebold AccuVote system.

Zeesem reached by telephone this afternoon, said the recount would begin as soon as possible after these conditions were met on Friday.

1. Does he have the money? Do we need to help him? What is the next
step DUer's should take to help the NH recount?

And I don't know if this thread will drop or where we can find it if it does - can we have this stuff saved in a master thread somehow in a prominant spot on the site?

4. You know if Nader gets a recount and it shows the machines are F'd
and this leads to a national recount and Kerry gets in the WH, I will take back every crappy thing I said about Nader. If not, F that megalomaniac

6. DONATE. We need to make sure this happens!
Thanks, Ralph, for asking for this.

(But we need to talk about that money from Republicans and anti-gay groups later.)

13. Ironic - it's exactly my stance with Kerry before the election.
I said, we'll get him in and then hold his feet to the fire. And many very pro-Kerry people accepted that as a reasonable stance.

I hope people can apply the same standard to Nader that many acceptably applied to Kerry.

Most important, though:

DONATE FOR THE NEW HAMPSHIRE PAPER BALLOT HAND RECOUNT, DU! $2000 BY FRIDAY, WE CAN MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Perhaps there are legal considerations for needing public donations. Has anyone asked?

18. Maybe the problem is getting it there...
Although it could be wired.

I live in NH. I'll be happy to drive to Concord on Friday and hand them a check (they're closed tomorrow for Veteran's Day).
