Validation of provisional ballots in Ohio is tedious process
CLEVELAND - A week after Ohio determined the outcome of the presidential race, election officials in 88 counties are engrossed in the tedious task of processing the provisional ballots cast on Election Day.

The counting is expected to take another week or more. Most counties contacted Wednesday by The Associated Press said they were not keeping running totals of how many of the 155,337 provisional ballots are valid as they get them ready for counting.

The few counties that had done a partial tally said most appeared legitimate.

6. Yes! What is the "definition" of "not keeping a running total"...
Edited on Wed Nov-10-04 06:05 PM by coreystone
I live in Vermont where so many cows are let out to graze in the morning, and, so many cows return at the end of the day. Hopefully, the number is the same. Running total refers to What??? And, "broken into" what categories???

:-)

PLEASE!

In essence: The "provisionals" should FIRST be validated, then counted!!!!!!!:kick:

7. Wrong precinct rejections
It would be great if we could get a tally on the number of provisional ballots rejected because they were cast in the wrong precinct.

11. There should be very few
As a poll worker I would have to say that most of us were very aware of the issue of voting in the correct precinct and made every effort to be sure the voter's address did indeed lie in the precinct in which they cast the provisional vote. In Franklin county each precinct gets a printout of all the streets etc. which lie within that precinct so that the poll workers can be sure the voter is in the correct precinct. This year for the first time we also got a master list of all the precincts in the county.
