Postage Stamp Honoring Reagan Unveiled
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. -- A twinkly-eyed Ronald Reagan is going on a U.S. postage stamp. Nancy Reagan unveiled a giant replica of the stamp Tuesday at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library.

"He considered it an honor of a lifetime to be president," Mrs. Reagan said. "And I know he would say, `Now, don't make such a fuss.'"

It is Postal Service tradition to honor prominent Americans with a stamp no sooner than 10 years after death -- except for U.S. presidents, who may be honored as early as the first birthday following their death.

Reagan, who died June 5, was born on Feb. 6, 1911. The first-day-of-issue stamp dedication ceremony will take place at the Reagan library Feb. 9.

2. Fine! That's Lovely! --- Can This Be The End Of It??
No monuments. No mountain carvings. No images on coins or currency. He's got plenty of buildings and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport named after him... enough is enough.

So technically, the airport is named after TWO presidents... right? How stupid is that?

12. I Also Refuse To Call It Anything BUT "Washington National"
Well... sometimes I'll just call it "National" or DCA. I just dispise seeing the new mile-wide signs in the Metro stations or on the roadside driving to the airport. Grrrrr.

43. The stamp wasn't altered.
"Tricky Envelopes:

Tom Zajak originated the idea of comic news, using topical cartoons to relay news, with the Santa Cruz Comic News. Now, there are many such papers in cities across the country. So when Zajak got a hold of the Richard Nixon postal stamp, it inspired him to create an envelope depicting a jail cell so when the stamp was attached, Nixon appeared to be in prison (where he belonged?). The next thing he knew, Zajak’s Nixon envelope was being waved around on national TV by Dan Rather. Success with the Nixon envelope lead to his creation of a hemp field envelope with the American Flag stamp flying high, and Washington and Jefferson harvesting hemp utilizing an Iowa stamp. Finally, Zajak used hemp paper to create Hempelopes, and now he has six designs and a display case. What’s next? “Maybe I’ll make matching cards for our envelopes,” says Zajak."

17. i will refuse the reagan stamp whenever and if ever the post office tries
to sell me any. refusing the stamp would be one of the ways in which i can stand up to this onslaught of republican bullshit. it will make a political statement as well and i am prepared to have people react to it at the post office ... from the postal service worker who receives my refusal to accept the stamp to anybody else in line who realizes that i have just refused a ronnie stamp.

no ronnie reagan stamp for me!

18. makes me think of this Soviet era joke-
A new postal stamp was issued with a likeness of Brezhnev. After a while, Brezhnev inquired whether everything was in order with the new stamp.

Post Office employee-Comrade Brezhnev, this stamp is not much in use.
Brezhnev-Why?
PO employee-The people complain it won't stick to the envelope.
Brezhnev-What? Is the glue bad?
PO Employee-No,the glue is good, they just spit on the wrong side.

Oh, well, aside from running up an insane deficit, destabilizing the world, funding Saddam and Osama, cutting off social programs, ruining the political debate, enraging the Mideast, selling weapons to Iran to fund terrorists in South America, and cutting and running from Lebanon, thus "emboldening the terrorists..."

What did he really do wrong, guys?

A few years ago it was a modestly publicized movement. Accomplishes nothing, I'm sure, but symbols do matter or Republicans wouldn't get so excited about them.

44. Oh, Gawwwwdddd....
If some postal clerk hands me any of those when I order stamps, I'll shove them back and demand some "real" stamps. If he/she tells me they're "real" stamps I'll just say that's impossible - nothing commemorating that man could possibly have anything to do with reality, therefore the MUST be counterfeit. If I have to pay more to buy stamps with birds or something on it to avoid the Reagan stamps, I will.

IOW - BOYCOTT those stupid stamps!!!
