Breaux says he's willing to talk Cabinet with Bush

Retiring U.S. Senator John Breaux says he would be willing to talk to President Bush about a Cabinet position in the next administration. However, Breaux acknowledged that he hasn't spoken to the White House about a slot.

Breaux made the comments as a guest on C-N-N's "Inside Politics" show.

Host Judy Woodruff told Breaux she had heard his name being tossed about as a possible Cabinet member in Bush's second term. Breaux, credited with being a centrist Democrat who often voted against his party to side with the president, said he talked with Bush about a Cabinet post before his first term. Breaux says no talks have occurred since then.

In an interview with Woodruff, Breaux noted that although Republicans made gains in the House and Senate, they still failed to come up with the 60 votes necessary to block a Senate filibuster.
