It’s the news the Twin Tiers didn't need to hear in the wake of the plant-closing announcement at MT Picture Display in Horseheads.

As our newspaper partner, the Leader reports... Avanex has told workers it's expecting to lay off at least 80 workers at its Gang Mills plant by the end of the month.

Some employees told the Leader Avenex's C.E.O. told them the photonics manufacturer would eventually shut down.

many years ago. I went home this past summer and that whole area is so depressing... :(
