Detainee asks for proof GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE
By Toni Locy, USA TODAY
GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba — The 27-year-old Yemeni wasted no time zeroing in on the Bush administration's justification for the indefinite detentions of 550 suspected al-Qaeda and Taliban operatives.
"What's the proof?" he asked during a hearing Saturday before three U.S. military officers assigned to determine whether he should continue to be held as an "enemy combatant" in the administration's war on terrorism.

President Bush says detainees can be held indefinitely because they violated the laws of war by failing to wear insignia — among other things — and to keep them from rejoining the fight against the United States.

The Pentagon began conducting the administrative hearings — officially known as Combatant Status Review Tribunals — in July, after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that detainees could challenge their detentions in U.S. courts.

1. "What's The Proof" Indeed - Seymour Hersh Asks The Same Question
In his new book "Chain Of Command."

Seymour Hersh's answer is not pretty i.e. the Bush administration is totally incompetent on fighting terrorism.

2. The neocons feel NO obligation to present "proof",...
,...to anyone for anything the neocons say or do. Ahem,...by their actions the neocons are NOT strong supporters of democracy or due process or rule of law or any of those MORAL matters that apply to the rest of humanity.

3. Oh, asking for evidence of the charges against him, is he?
"What further need have we of witnesses? Ye have heard his terroristic tendencies with your own ears! What say ye, members of the tribunal?"

"Crucify him," They shouted as one.

4. Faith-based proof
Just like this election -- faith based.

we are being told to believe the voters had a last minute revelation of faith and just couldn't vote for Kerry.

Now they are asking this guy to believe.

So next year I wonder if the IRS will accept "faith-based" numbers on the tax return forms? Or will they want the proof to support the numbers on the form?
