57 Arrested in San Francisco Protest (2,000 participated)
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Police arrested 57 people Wednesday as nearly 2,000 protesters decried the re-election of George W. Bush and the continuing war in Iraq.

San Francisco police said the large demonstration that started around 5 p.m. was peaceful, but a smaller group of about 150 later splintered and marched through Civic Center and the Tenderloin.

Raucous demonstrators chanted "We're going to beat back the Bush attack, get the troops out of Iraq."

Anti-Bush signs were in abundance, proclaiming "Nov. 2, 2004 -- a sad day" and "Overthrow King Bush." One man held a sign that said "Stop mad cowboy disease."

4. And all across Red America ...

... Bush bigots squealed in glee at seeing that they'd pissed off "them San Francisco types".

Face it, kids, protest doesn't mean shit anymore. Hit them in the pocketbook. Refuse to do business with them. Refuse to serve them in your establishments. That's what'll get their attention. All the rest is just a bunch of ineffectual nostalgia, from the days when public discourse wasn't completely dead yet.

9. Even if the election was stolen
which is more than likely the case, I think the day of protest, after tuesday has become stale and predictable. Not that it's wrong whatsoever, and I'll protest anywhere. This administrations agenda is truly unique, however horrible, and calls for something more unique from us. They will continue to steal elections if all we are going to do is take to the streets, as we've seen from the last four years. They don't care about protests. Just my thoughts.

21. The protests let the rest of the world know.
And you're right....we need to do more than just protest. We need to boycott. We need to sue in court. We need more catchy slogans like the religious wrong. And we can't surrender....we must continue this fight and never give up!

12. SATURDAY - TURN OUT IN THE STREETS
Somebody get this organized - SOMEBODY make this happen-

On Saturday, Nov. 6, there should be MASSIVE protests in the streets of every major city in America, PROTEST the Smirk's claim of a mandate and his promise to ERASE the 20th Century. There should be thousands of us in the streets this weekend, just like we did before the Iraq war, just as we did before the GOP convention. We need TV cameras to have a clear visual of just how many people there are who REFUSE to accept the destruction of Constitutional democracy. We need people shouting and screaming from podiums and through bullhorns. We need to make so much noise that they cannot ignore it. We need to see and hear thousands upon thousands of united voices.

2,000 isn't SHIT. We better have 2 million people before we expect a damn thing to even begin to get done.

edit: removed foul language--sorry, I'm steaming.
