Bush led U.S. into quagmire, Bin Laden says
Thursday, November 04, 2004
Nadia Abou El-Magd
Associated Press
Cairo, Egypt - Terrorist leader Osama bin Laden claimed in new video footage broadcast Wednesday that President Bush ignored warnings against invading Iraq because he was dazzled by the country's "black gold" and ended up leading the United States into a quagmire.

The full video, portions of which were broadcast Friday, was posted on a Web site used by Islamic groups Wednesday. The tape shows the author of the Sept. 11 attacks accusing Bush of acting out of what he calls "private" interests - an allusion to his oil business past.

Bush ignored the warnings because "the darkness of the black gold blurred his vision and insight, and he gave priority to private interests over the public interests of America," bin Laden says in the portions of the tape that the Arab network al-Jazeera did not broadcast Friday.

"The war went ahead. The death toll rose. The American economy bled, and Bush became embroiled in the swamps of Iraq that threaten his future," bin Laden said.

1. I wish bin laden would take Bush by the hand and they would
both ride into the sunset and just leave us alone.

2. this is not the "new" tape -- this is the previously unreleased portion of
friday's tape, which was released on the internet yesterday, I believe.

4. Correct
What's weird, is that the same time a rumor of another tape appeared, a whole bunch of media decided to re-run the stories about the first tape, except with the details they omitted last Friday.

Some kind of psyop, would be my guess.

7. You're right, this is the old tape. It's confusing with rumors....
of a new tape while releasing portions of the old tape. More of the story:

"Analysts say bin Laden issued the tape in a bid to influence the U.S. presidential elections, which took place four days after al-Jazeera broadcast it.

In another portion of the video released Monday, bin Laden vowed to bleed America to bankruptcy, boasting that for every $1 al-Qaida has spent on terrorist strikes, it has cost the United States $1 million in economic fallout and military spending, including emergency financing for Iraq and Afghanistan."

This probably is some type od psyc-game.

Al-Jazeera's New Osama Bin Laden Video - UPDATE 2
Source: TT Exclusive | 7:30:38 AM EST

We will attempt to update our readers on the status of the new Bin Laden tape. As we have said earlier, we have confirmed the actual existence of this new Osama Bin Laden video. Al-Jazeera is currently still on an embargo for a few more hours and cannot air any portion of this video tape. They have been put on embargo by the US Government wishing to investigate the video tape before its release.

Al-Jazeera Television's embargo is similar to what we saw last week with the original Osama Bin Laden video. After US Government review, Al-Jazeera chose only to air 5 minutes of the entire 18 minute video. Al-Jazeera will be presented again with the option of airing any portion of this new video tape. In the past, Al-Jazeera Television has never sat on any message from Osama Bin Laden for more than 24 hours.

Currently, the airing of this video tape is in the hands of Al-Jazeera. While it is very likely that they may air the tape immediately following the embargo, it is also likely that they'll sit on it for another day or two. We have again attempted to speak with Al-Jazeera regarding the video tape, but however they appear to be on a gag order and cannot release any additional information about the tape's existence.

We can assure you that it does exist and soon we will all being seeing it on national TV. The tape is said to be currently leaked online on a few remote and highly secret Al-Qaeda Websites. Militants are already praising its release, making comments such as "Soon the American People will see the edited version". We hope that by making the tape's existence known publicly prior to the national media, that we do indeed see the entire tape as it could be crucial to the future of the United States. We do not believe in suppression by the US Government in something as significant as an OBL tape.

18. You are very right, Tesibria...Did you notice that there are...
...lots of articles which are stating "new" Bin Laden tape when it's really from the last tape released? I'm getting just the tiniest whiff of sulphor in the whole affair- as though there was some confusioneering hoping to obscure the contents of the tape that Al Jazeera is currently sitting on.

I admit, myself, that this is pretty tinfoily. But then again...

6. bin Laden cooperating with Bush
probably a good strategy to stay alive, as long as he keeps co-opting anti-Bush rhetoric, Bush will NEVER go after him.

8. Bin Laden is not stupid
He knows that whatever he says is going to be rejected by the American people; that's why his tape (the portions that were released pre-election) actually stood to benefit Bush.

9. once again, ubl is spot on..
don't interpret this as an endorsement for the guy, but you can hardly argue with his statements in the article. We've been saying the sames things here for nearly two years now. Too bad he can't be a regular on one of the so-called news shows; Hannity & Usama, or set him up against bow tie boy. Maybe he can contribute a weekly column alongside Molly Ivins?

they are voting for the interests of the GOP over the interests of their own country - it is sad and pathetic but true.
