Dodd Not Going For Minority Leader Position
He just announced it on CNN. Pretty much said that Harry Reid is going to be the new ML. Another day, another blow to liberals.

6. He decidedly is not. a good choice.
He's from Nevada, a red state, thus vulnerable to Republican threats and attacks. He's also anti-choice and he's way too cozy with mining interests.

11. I didn't know he was anti-choice.
But I'm basing my opinion on the fact that he's from a red state. Whereas Dodd is from Ct. I just don't believe that we can win with someone from the NE. I think Rove's attacks on Kerry for being "too liberal" did work in scaring people. We have to get away from that NE liberal image/label. I may be completely wrong. But that's just my $.02

15. You're Wrong.
We're talking about Minority Leader. We need someone from a safe blue state. It's not about winning. It's about a vigorous and wily opposition leader who doesn't have to worry about being defeated when he/she is up for re-election.

17. But if we start obstructing, etc.
and making it difficult for the opposition in congress won't that hurt us? Personally, I would prefer we do that. But I also want us to take the congress back in '06 and 1600 Penn. Ave. in '08.

7. Why does John Kerry not accept that position?
...He has four more years in the senate and can imnplement his agenda of bringing help to America by standing up against the majority in the senate.

9. I don't think they necessarily want him
He's not the most popular guy in the Senate.

10. Here we go. Another Democrat from
a right wing area. sigh. Dodd would have been great as he is a proud Liberal and not ashamed to admit it. See, we do have one good Senator in CT! :-) But Dodd is also very good in the background as a consensus getter.
