Kerry calls Bush to concede
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 01:00 PM by steve2470
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/11/03/election.main/index.html

CNN) -- Democratic Sen. John Kerry phoned President Bush on Wednesday to concede the presidential election, aides in both camps said.
President Bush was to deliver a victory statement at 3 p.m. ET, Bush aides said. Sen. Kerry's aides said he was expected to make a concession speech at 1 p.m. ET at Faneuil Hall in Boston, Massachusetts.

A Kerry adviser said the campaign had concluded that the too-close-to-call battleground state of Ohio was not going to come through for the Democrats.

The adviser said there was no way to gain votes on Bush without an "exhaustive fight," something that would have "further divided this country."

3. I'm so sick of acting like conceding is for the good of the country
It affirms many people's feelings that Democrats aren't fighters but wusses.

4. Thanks for fighting for us John
You did not even try. You sent Edwards out last night to tell us that you would not give up untill every vote was counted. Well, when I look at that map I still see 3 states in white.

You did not even try. At this point as far as I'm concerned your no better than bush and you have nothing to say that I want to hear.

For the last year my wife has said that we would not have an election. She was right. We never had one, ths was in the bag.

9. An exhaustive fight ...
would not change the outcome of the election, but it would certainly drive people away from our party.

Any further effort on this is a LOSE-LOSE situation. We got our asses kicked in every possible way. As soon as everyone realizes we can move forward.

Remember, bush now has a mandate. Let see what he does with it, and who he ends up blaming for the failures of his own decision making.

Cheers
Drifter

10. I agree except that 52-48 and 286 EV is no mandate.
Bush still barely won the EV as an incumbent president. That is no mandate. What he does have is an obligation to be president of all of the people for a change.

11. Die, die DIEBOLD
You can only count the votes when they are recorded. BEV HARRIS WAS RIGHT. We need to change the law and require a paper record of all votes.

If the votes were counted, we might have won. If the kids who will be fighting and dying in the weecowboy army bothered to vote, we would have won.

We need to start working now to take back the HOUSE AND SENATE. We need to get the votes needed to CHIMPEACH. We may be exhausted, but we need to take a short holiday, recharge, and hit it HARD, again.

It's either that, or curl up and die, die Diebold.

17.  can't get votes counted without "exhaustive fight,"
Golly. George was right, it is hard work, ain't it?

I'm glad the framers of the Consitution didn't think it was too much of an "exhaustive fight" to continue on through the battles endured within that group.

Wow, really, fuck you too.

Let's just dismantle the whole America thing and call it a day.

they're worried about further dividing the country? JUST WHAT FUCKING COUNTRY WOULD THAT BE?

Backing down is going to make it worse, not better. The only way it could be more divided is if God cleaved the whole damn place in two with an axe.

Something really, really bad is happening, and happening very quickly.

21. You mean to say vote "Democratic" not "Democrat"
And good luck with your other choices.

However, It really does look as though the party is indeed morphing into the Republican party.

I don't see how conceding before the votes are counted is a good idea in any kind of scenario.

Unless Dick told John another 9/11 was all lined up if he didn't.

20. Another stuffed shirt liberal stretches in the sun
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 03:53 PM by govegan
Wealth and privilege is morally demeaning.

Unfortunately, these stuffed shirt pretenders don't pay the price for their primitive posturing.

Neofascism is alive and well.

As I think it was Stalin who said: doesn't really matter who votes, who counts the votes is the primary importance.

Okay, Kerry gives it the old Yale try as a "nice guy liberal".

Will the Democratic party ever grow up and decide that democracy is worth a try?

"If we would plan and shape the future we must realize that changes in the material conditions of life hold precedence. Natural science penetrated the wilderness, blazed the path, built and paved the highway; social science followed timidly and tentatively. Theories of social revolution were molded out of centuries of human experience with new ways of doing things. Natural science and engineering are swiftly reshaping nature and rebuilding the material foundations of human society. The time has come for social scientists and engineers to make an equally sweeping transformation in the field of social relationships. " Scott Nearing

24. Becasue there aren't enough provisional ballots in OH to swing it
And even if there were, he would be declared the winner anyway, since those ballots are being counted regardless of Kerry's concession.

26. What if Kerry had an unmentioned reason as to why he conceded?
So instead of fight, capitulate so * can continue chafing it bloody raw?! Complete with internal hemorrhaging?! Not even a peep about the Diebold machines, which are so arrogant in their paperless presentation that to NOT make an inquiry would be as effective as having a blind man fly an airplane?!

Here is why I'm thinking Kerry gave up: When America does collapse, at least * will get the blame. Everything is teetering right now, and if it had collapsed under you they would have crucified you before taking over, even though they are the ones who caused the mess. So maybe you did the right thing. To lose is to win, and he who wins shall lose?

Had dinner with family tonight - repugs amongs us had weak arguments - couldn't even have a dinner discussion our nerves were so raw - and it was the unavoidable elephant in the room.

Hopefully, a'la Nixon's second term, *'s will be a short one.

Guess I'll be "seeing" more you all in the coming months.
