58. No good is served by conceding to a cheat!
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 11:40 AM by Vitruvius
Kerry should NEVER concede, no matter what! And he should say so -- and makeRethugnican vote-rigging the #1 issue forevermore.

I knew the fix was in last nite when another worker heard on the radio that the Bu$h gang was bragging that the actual returns were much better for Bu$h than the exit polls. Just like 2000 in Florida and elsewhere, just like 2002 in Georgia and elsewhere.

This was a golden opportunity to NAIL the Rethug's ethnic cleansing of the votor rolls, the easily rigged voting machines with no paper trail -- made by Rethugnican companies, the discarding of Democratic registrations, and the 3, 4, 5, 8-hour long lines in poor & minority areas (deliberately created by sending those areas too few voting machines -- so that there was NO WAY all -- or even very many -- of the people could vote).

NEVER CONCEDE TO A CHEAT! And given the known extent of Rethugnican cheating, the total Rethug cheating must have been colossal; even a common burglar commits on the order of 30 burglaries for every time he gets caught -- and Rove, Cheney & Co. are as smart as your average burglar. And remember -- it's as easy to steal a million vote as one vote with unauditable computerized voting machines...

It's time for some strategic national disunity -- there is no reason for us to unite with a lying, cheating, thieving, fundamentalist Rethugnican minority. What we need to do is delegitimize Bu$h & co at every turn, hamstring them at every opportunity, and make it clear that in the absence of honest elections, they will find this country ungovernable.

69. I disagree
Rove, Cheney, and Co. are way smarter than your average burglar. They used the confusion of 2000 as a way to fund, to the tune of $4 Billion, a massive campaign to use voting machines with NO PAPER TRAIL. All they had to do in this election is rig Florida.

Their system is working. Until these machines are stopped, or their companies forced to provide paper trails, you will see them fine tuning this every election. Democracy has been destroyed unless we stop THE MACHINES.

It was all a big show and the fools are celebrating while the rest of us wonder what really is going on.

What are their names?
David Crosby

I wonder who they are
The men who really run this land
And I wonder why they run it
With such a thoughtless hand

What are their names
And on what streets do they live
I'd like to ride right over
This afternoon and give
Them a piece of my mind
About peace for mankind
Peace is not an awful lot to ask

And very likely, neither will the Democratic party.

I know, I know, it's the idiot people of America who are to blame for this mess. They let Diebold do what they did. They let it get close enough.

So, I hate to say it, but I hereby leave politics, again. I cannot educate the stupid masses. If they want COPS, and BAY WATCH, then how can we stop them?

Stem cell research didn't require killing of babies. They just believed everything the media told them.

And I don't think I can help.

That is what I think. I may find that I can help. But I thought Clinton was too far to the right. So that means I've been alone since 1980.

Fuck Bush. Fuck the Bush family. Fuck Republicans.

47. DO NOT CONCEDE! our fax to Kerry
It is being reported in the news that you will concede the 2004 Presidential Election at 1:00 EST today. Don't do it!

You are now the second candidate in 4 years that is forsaking the people who worked their guts out for him. We have contributed money that we could ill afford to your campaign, we made phone calls, and knocked on doors all to get you elected, because you were the electable one! You can't get elected unless the votes get counted, get a backbone!

People stood in line in Ohio for hours and hours to insist that their votes be counted, who are you to forsake them?

Where is your honor?

Sincerely,

Robert S. Shields

85. I ALMOST CANNOT TAKE IT
WHY? WHY? WHY? We will ask forever and like John Kennedy's
assassination, we will never know the truth. The Democratic
Party under Terry McAuliffe has raped us and burned us. At
this late stage in my life, I am finally finished with the
Party that I have voted a straight ticket for over the past 45
years.

When Kerry changed campaign managers from Beth Cahill (the
party-giver) to that fat Joe Lockhart some months ago, I was
instantly worried because this is a man with absolutely NO
WINS to his credit. Like someone said in another post, this
smells - no, REEKS - of a Skull and Bones conspiracy.
McAuliffe foisted Kerry on us because in McAuliffe's words,
"Kerry was more winnable than Dean." Then they
helped take Dean down.

I have, like many. many others worked myself to pieces to
ensure a Kerry win to have this man concede before all the
votes were counted. He let us down big time - so big that the

108. Bring on the rapture!
The right-wing religious whackos who voted for * yesterday all believe that Jesus is coming for them and will rapture them all to heaven in the last days. And all the crap going on in the world today are sure signs that we are in the last days.

The rapture is the only way I can see of keeping them from voting. Till that happens, neither the democrats nor any other party will have a chance.

Self-fulfilling prophesy: America, at least, really is living in the last days.

Waiting for the count is not the point. The votes will have to be counted anyway, it's not like we'd be asking Ohio to take some extraordinary measures. The point is to let the Chimp twist in the wind for a while, and to let him just grab the damn crown, as is his wont. Let him look like the damn dictator he is.

A 4 mil popular vote margin, legit or not, is impossible to overcome. Kerry had no choice to concede, but why the hell couldn't he have waited a little longer?

And how the f*** does a 46%-47% approval rating translate into a 51% margin in the vote?!?!?!

122. RACISM - REPUBLICAN GLUE
Until the Democratic Party understands that the REAL GLUE
uniting the Republicans is RACISM then the Democrats will
NEVER win another race.Until they stop hiding their heads in
the sand and refusing to confront and address this reality,
the Dem. Party will remain in the toilet where the Repubs put
it four years ago.

Bush's largest rallies in Ohio were held in the areas of Klan,
Skinhead, NeoNazi, White Supremacist Groups and it was they,
not the Evangelicals who put him over. Forget about abortion,
gay rights, etc - whites unite over racism and no one in
America wants to discuss it openly.

All of this comes down to race in my opinion. Historically and currently. The South has gone with the least friendly party to blacks always, whether that was Dems before the sixties or Republicans since the civil rights era. It is a sad but unfortunate reality that whites unite over their racism. Or as they like to now call it "opposition to quotas."

There is no way for him to rationalize holding up the decision at this point. How the fuck can you criticize him? We just can't gain enough ground to balance the deficit of votes in Ohio. They aren't there.

I wish to hell we could prove fraud. I really do. Just doesn't look like there is a way to get it done. WE know they stole the damn thing, but how do we come up with the evidence? It vanished in a trail of dissipated electrons.

John Kerry is the same man he was last week, last month, 30 years ago. You remember, the one YOU WERE FIGHTING FOR UNTIL A FEW MINUTES AGO?????

How do you propose he continue to fight when the numbers aren't there? What do you do if you need $100 for something but all you have in your pocket is $50??? Where do you get the shortfall? Answer: you don't. Stark reality.

Goddam, people. Smell the coffee. I'm as pissed as anyone, fuck, I'm crying like a fucking beaten step-child, but I don't have any idea what grounds Kerry could offer to hold up the concession any longer. If you have some idea how he could still win this election, I'm all ears.

By conceding so early, Kerry has pissed off his base. Imagine this was a football game. You know your team is loosing, or it looks like they will. Yet, you still expect them to fight until the end of the game and not just roll over. By conceding Kerry runs away from his end of the deal. He promised to fight for us. He didn't!. Why now. What did he have to loose by waiting until all the votes are counted? He is done in politics anyway!

Unless the Democratic Party decides to fight, they will never be in power.

Burning Courthouse In Prince George's County
Wednesday, November 03, 2004
WBAL Radio and The Associated Press

Prince George's County firefighters are struggling to contain a rapidly-spreading five-alarm blaze that has engulfed most of the historic county courthouse in smoke and flames.

Fire and E-M-S spokesman Chauncey Bowers says the fire on Main Street in Upper Marlboro began on the roof, in an older section of the building that's been under renovation.

Bowers says about 100 firefighters are on the scene and are battling high winds that are fanning the flames.

Broadcast pictures show a massive plume of black and gray smoke, along with flames shooting into the air.

It's not clear what caused the fire.

Authorities don't believe anyone has been injured.

A spokesman for the county's state's attorney's office says land records and criminal cases are at risk.

What's to be gained? For "unity's" sake? There is none anwyay. It makes no sense. Why not just say FU to Bush and let things drag on--it would at least make the foot soldiers feel like the general really supported them. Does Kerry think he's taking the "high road" by being magnanimous in defeat? Hey John--don't do it for me. What's "right" and what's "the truth" doesn't matter to these fascists anyway. If Bush can't give his "victory" speech until Thanksgiving, then too damn bad.

By the time the third Supreme Court appointee is on the bench nothing's gonna matter anyway. They'll have the high priest in control and the the beautiful experiment of 1776 will have finally failed.

117. I think Kerry ....
may have to concede. For him not to would play into their hands, these people are evil and have stolen two elections, many of us believe that 9/11 has the fingerprints of a NeoConservative attack.
If Kerry rides it out and Bush is not allowed to be the President for a couple weeks, you could bet something would happen in Iraq or elsewhere with serious loss of life. And Kerry would get the blame for distracting the President from protecting Americans. And then it really would be the end of the Democrats.

I do not believe this is a Skull and Cross bones act, but maybe an act by someone that understands his enemy. If he does get out of the way, the war could esculate in Iraq, jobs losses at Christmas, rises in the price of Oil everywhere and Bush will not be able to blame anyone else for it.Anger could raise and anger abroad may get louder, boycotts of American products in Europe etc.
I think the Kerry may have done the smart thing here, until the Republicans are faced with the true horror of their choices, and the country wakes up, nothing will change.

when Republicans start loosing their jobs before Christmas and more of their children start dying in Iraq, in the next few months. Wait until the shit hits the fan and they realise they have four more years and that is what they voted for.

Earlier it did occur to me that Kerry hanging on could lead to the kind of bloodshed that Chaney threatened if Kerry was elected. It is possible that Kerry realises that too.
These people have fought on of the dirtiest, most dishonest elections ever, they have no intention of relinquishing the White House, I know it the moment that the said Ohio was too chose to call that Kerry was screwed. They couldn't risk another scandal in Florida so the spot light was on Ohio.
The clips of Bush watching the results, showed a smug, confident family that knew they would be declared victorious, it gave me goose bumps.

But if it's true, I take responsibility. If my horse gives up the race before I do, it's because I chose the wrong horse.

Apparently half the country is ready to just live like cowardly sheep under the Chimp fuhrer, afraid of all those terrorists and gays in their closets. It's up to us to keep fighting the good fight for this nation, even if some folks would just rather roll over.

Dean wouldn't have to concede.
He would've lost before the first ballot was cast.

Dean would have called Bush a thief and a liar, he would have exposed Bush's criminal past, and punished him for 7 very long months. Instead we got someone who waited a month before responding to the Swift Liars.

Kerry deserves to be publically whipped for what he has done, he has betrayed the American people for real this time, by surrendering when he knew months in advance the Republican cheating in Florida.

And now the Republicans have cheated their way into another 4 years, 4 more seats in the House for Texas, and who knows how many others.

My plan:

Step 1- The removal of all Republicrats from the party. Lieberman and the rest of his gang can go hang. Anyone who votes with the Republicans over 50% of the time is out.

Step 2- Stop Kerry's concession. They've got 45 minutes

Step 3- Mass indictment of the Republicans for their crimes
Impeach Bush for violation of Article 6 of the Constitution (the UN charter is the law of the land, he is required to obey), prosecute him, jail him or better yet I'm sure the ICC would love to talk to him
along with all his cronies.

Step 4- Show the masses what real liberals and progressives are, ban centrists from running for any sort of national office. Centrism has gotten us nowhere but stepped on, Screw the swing voter, they've proven what morons they are, pick a side and FIGHT. When Republicans commit crimes, don't weasel and whine, make sure it's right in the public face. Punish them at every opportunity, make them bleed and FIGHT.

Never give up, never surrender, fight to the last man, don't let the Republicans steal a single vote. This time it's SHAME ON THE DEMOCRATS
The GOP fooled them once, and shame on them, now they've been fooled twice, so it's shame on ALL of the wimps.

fall to *? Hmmm? Still blame Kerry for conceding? He knew what he was doing. Didn't you listen to his concession speech? Well let me tell you; he said there was no chance the outstanding votes in Ohio would give him a victory and that he was sorry. Some of you guys are such mean-spirited wusses and "flip floppers". The man's a pro; unlike some of his supposed supporters (ready with the dagger in the back) while yelling "Oh yeah we got your back Senator". Please. He's trying to help us face reality and heal. Blame the voters in Florida and Ohio and the corrupt Repugs in charge - that we put there by the way.

kerry didnt win, and Daschle lost.

The only good thing is now we can revamp the party.

The repubs did it by energizing their base.

For the dems to do this, we need DEAN DEMOCRATS, or heck, even WES CLARK, he was a better candidate than KERRY.

all you haters have got to get your heads out of your asses.

the DLC and Republican Lite democrats are what have killed the party.

AND, we have to do something about the primaries, why should joe schmoe in bum fuck NH and IA get to decide who runs for Pres., Its not fair to the rest of the country, they should have all primaries on the same day.

I can't beleive that he's let us down like this. There's plenty of clear evidence of Republican fraud everywhere. 125. I can't believe the things I'm reading in this thread
Kerry would have to win an overwhelming majority of the remaining votes in Ohio. It is not statistically possible for him to win in Ohio at this point, and therefore it is not possible for him to win the election.

I for one am glad that this didn't turn into another month-long circus with W still smirking at the end.

Instead of trashing Kerry, maybe we need to start wondering WHY fully half the country supports a president who has led us into an expensive and pointless war, overseen an economy which is losing jobs and drowning in debt, and sabotaged efforts to improve access to health care. Whatever the Democrats are doing to try and win people over, it's clearly not working.

- Why didn't they use the sadistic violence of the 'Left Behind' books as a wedge issue? "Mister President, does YOUR god disembowl and dismember non-believers?"

The strategy sucked wet donkey farts.

158. Symbolically Give Up - That started Jan 2001
While it is hard to hear that Sen Kerry is conceding to Bush this early; "symbolically" the concession goes back to the Bush Gore election, when not one single Senator would stand in the Senate and acknowledge the Democratic Congressional charges of Voter Fraud in Florida in 2001.

Had one single Senator stepped up to the plate at that time, we very likely would NOT have had Bush as President, Not had 9-11, Not had Iraq, and Not had this day.

We have been "Bushed" again.

Tears and Prayers and Hope and Concessions won't right this wrong.

Look, I'm just as fucking disappointed as everyone else, but Christ on a stick, yelling about how much you fucking hate Kerry isn't gonna solve shit.

Let's not forget who the REAL enemy here is: King George. Kerry led a damn good campaign, and he made us proud for a long, long time. Don't forget that.

As for me, I'm moving on to finding our next candidate. And I'm keeping an eye on Sleaz-O-Bush and just WAITING for his next fuck-up. Then I'm gonna smack people in the face with it and tell them "THIS is what you voted for. Happy?"

In the meantime, maybe we shouldn't go around yelling "Crucify him! Crucify him!" and focus on the goddamn Roman Centurions.

it seems nothing i say here is very popular, but looking at the numbers, i dont see a Kerry victory in the future.

Fighting the good fight is all well and good. But creating pointless turmoil when victory is out of reach is just a bad move.

I understand that many of us are suffering the sting of defeat, but Kerry has proven himself a true statesman by not kicking a dead-horse.

150. Yeah, and the same was said about Gore in 2000
Gore's campaign only asked to recount a few of the counties in Florida in order to appease the Republican bully tactics. Turns out, if all the votes were recounted within the state, then Gore would have won.

I think it's stupid to say that he's being statemen-like. He's being a wuss, and he lied about caring about every vote and every American. He can go back to his wind-surfing for all I care.

167. Hopes defeated, dreams deleted
I went to work at 6 am this morning. Barely had time to check to see the news worse than it was when I went to bed.

The first customers I had were the Wednesday morning prayer group. I am full of anger, but I serve them. I hear them chatting about "signs". I wanted to scream at them to hurry up and fucking rapture already so I can have my country back. I say nothing.

My other "regulars" get wind that I'm upset about the election so they procede to make jokes. With hot coffee pot in hand and rightous burning anger in my eyes, I think they knew not to push any further.

I was sooo freaking angry yet unable to vent because I can't lose my job right now. I knew if I said anything, I would lose it because I was near tears and barely controlling my emotions.

My boss comes in and gives me the news that Kerry conceded with an added "Ha! Ha!" A coworker says "Are you angry?" I said "Yes, I'm angry and 49% of the country is angry" My boss says "Yeah, but it's the 51% that counts."

She then noticed that I was not in a good frame and she told me I could go home if I wanted. Which I did.

How could things be so fucked up? Why did he concede so quickly? I didn't even get a chance to get home to see if the lawyers or Michael Moores video army had found something. He could have at least waited 10 days until the absentee ballots were counted.

I am in pain and disheartened and don't know what to do.
Needless to say, its been a sucky day all around.

164. With Al Gore in 2000 and now John Kerry in 2004, the Democratic...
...presidential candidates that we have selected as our party leaders just did not seem to want the presidency bad enough to fight for it. These election results for 2004 should not go unchallenged in states li8ke Ohio and Florida where the results are suspect. Even if our candidate could not win an electral majority, cheating can not go unchallenged for the sake of our party and for canadidates running in other races. The country deserves to know the truth about what is happening with our democratic election processes. This can not stand.

I had just finished hearing a replay of Edwards saying that he and Kerry would hold to their promise of counting eveyr vote when they announced that they were scheduled to announce a concession.

Nothing looks good. Nothing.

How can we not have doubts? Are we adding another conspiracy? Is it deserved?

What the hell was wrong with counting all the votes? Nothing. Nothing.
