By STEVEN K. PAULSON

Associated Press Writer

DENVER (AP) - Colorado's top elections official rushed to Arizona to be with her critically injured brother on Monday and will be absent when the votes are counted in an election beset with confusion and fears of fraud.

Secretary of State Donetta Davidson said her top deputy and two other aides would oversee the election in Colorado on Tuesday. Davidson went to Phoenix, where her brother was hospitalized in a coma after a motorcycle accident on Saturday.

She and Gov. Bill Owens expressed confidence in her staff's ability to oversee the election, despite a string of reports about voter registration fraud, ineligible voters and last-minute confusion about election rules. In addition, the counting of contested ballots is expected to take days and could delay election results.

``The plan is in place and the key decisions have been made,'' said Owens' spokesman, Dan Hopkins. The governor ``feels very confident.''

They are already having problems with ineligible voters and then there is that whole issue of splitting up the electoral votes.

3. Good riddance to the worthless woman
I think it was fate that kicked Davison out of Colorado for a few days.

4. so what's with the "plan"?
``The plan is in place and the key decisions have been made,'' said Owens' spokesman, Dan Hopkins. The governor ``feels very confident.''

I hope her brother recovers.

I hope the "plan" is not malevolent.

5. Somebody's got to say it, might as well be me
This stinks.

With all of the hoopla over Colorado and the tightening of the race, Amendment 36, and the widespread confusion over who can and can't vote in this state, (most of which Davidson brought to bear) the timing of all of this is suspect.

Go ahead, flame away. But who's in charge now?

"Deputy Secretary of State Bill Hobbs and election officers Bill Compton and Drew Durham will oversee the election in Davidson's absence. She said all three have been involved in elections for years."

Yeah, THAT Drew Durham.

The black, hispanic, and felon votes are in jeopady, as of today. (In Colorado, Felons are eligible to vote, unless currently incarcerated.)

If Bill Owens "feels very confident", I feel very worried. He is Bushscum of the highest order.

Send lawyers guns and money, the sh*t has hit the fan.

6. This sounds bad. What is Durham's role in all of this?
I'm not familiar with Colorado politics. Can you contact the state K-E campaign and make sure that they know about this? I don't have access to a long distance phone line at this time.
