Wall St. Wants a Quick, Clean Election
Sat Oct 30, 2004

NEW YORK (Reuters) - It won't be just a sigh of relief on Wall Street but an ovation if the U.S. presidential election on Tuesday produces a clear winner and avoids a repeat of the chaotic 2000 results.

And the cheers for a clean vote are expected to drown out partisan cries of victory or defeat.

As a near-term market factor, an unequivocal end to the presidential race has become more important than whether George Bush or John Kerry wins, according to equity strategists.

<snip>

With a clear winner, apprehension about a long courtroom brawl will end, fears about attacks on the United States to disrupt the balloting will subside, and divisive campaign rhetoric will fall silent.

Hey guess what Wall Street? We want a quick, clean election too. However, one thing is clear after 4 years of Bush's failed policies, it is time for a change. The country won't survive another 4 years of Bush Co at the helm.

3. I don't give a damn what's important to them.
They backed that bastard Bush. Have they got the asbestos and heavy metal out of their lungs yet? Never forget the photos of the Wall Street people returning to work while BushCo lied to them about the air quality.

4. Fuggem. *Americans* want a quick clean election. Screw Wall Street!
We've had wars because of what Wall St. wanted, we've lost millions of jobs because of what Wall St. wanted, we get screwed on drug prices and insurance because of what Wall St. wanted...I just really don't give a sh*t what Wall St. wants anymore. Wall Street can go to hell.

7. Kerry could win in a landslide
and Bush would still contest every damn state. He will not go quietly into the night, even if it is in the best interest of the country. He hasn't done anytning in the best interest of the country since he's been in office. Why start when he loses?

8. Because he no long has the support of his own party
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 01:00 AM by DoYouEverWonder
Notice Bush hasn't even campaigned much with other candidates. Most of his misadministration is no where to be seen. This is the first president who isn't even wearing a waistcoat, no less coattails. Plus, Kerry and the Dems are ready. I don't think anyone is planning to pull an Al Gore this time.

Besides, this election will be decided in the court of public opinion rather quickly I think.

16. A friend who will be in the MO legislature come January 2005
says the Dems have learned from 2000 and will not be rolling over. I TRULY hope those words are turned into action. I have told her time and time again that if 2004 is a repeat of 2000 and the Dems roll over, they can kiss many minority constituencies good-bye.

Bush ain't going away quietly. He's going away, I believe it, but he's too much of a meglamaniac.

12. Too Bad Wall Street
If you don't know that you are Karl Rove's punk, then please tell me who bent you over the stair rail.

Was that Bill Clinton and the Dems? Or was it the planned transition to a militarist, arbitrage oriented economy a Cheney operation?

13. Wall St. also like layoffs
they also like increasing GNP

But take a look at what is in the GNP. Cancer is a big winner on the GNP - more goods and services for every case. Bad health is good for Wall Street.

15. And I want to be tall, handsome, and rich
And if wishes were horses, beggars would ride.

You get the idea.

It ain't going to happen. It's going to be messy, and election observers are going to conclude that they've seen freer and fairer elections in the third world.
