Drug tests for PV 7th-graders?
NORTHEAST VALLEY - The Paradise Valley Unified School District is considering testing students as young as those in seventh grade for drugs.

The district sent home a survey to the families of high school students and is giving the survey to middle-school parents during parent-teacher conferences this week, district spokeswoman Judi Willis said.

Gina Jeanette, who has a daughter at Sunrise Middle School and a son at Horizon High School, supports random drug testing for all students starting in seventh grade.

"It's crucial to hit them at that age," she said. She said she was shocked to hear that when her daughter was in sixth grade, some of the students in her class were experimenting with drugs.

1. This is sick
All it tells kids is, we don't trust you. We would rather test you than talk to you. We're more concerned about punishing you than nurturing you.

*#$@%! :grr:

4. The explicit what is known but what is not said
My guess it relates back to greed and what is really ridding on ones conscience. They can't discuss that either

2. This is particularly warped
I am pretty much opposed to all drug testing, except by the criminal justice system. Employers spend a lot of money when they do random testing-it should be used only "with cause".

3. fascism marches on . . .
next year they'll also be "screening" all students (and teachers, and school staff) for mental illness . . . which I guess they can define any way they damn well please . . .

5. Gina Jeanette is such a careing parent (want proof?)
"It's crucial to hit them at that age." Some of the student's are experimenting with drug's,maybe they need to escape reality with a "crucial hit"?

6. Like hell they'll test MY kids!
I consider this a blatant flaunting of illegal search and seizure protections! And for children! Outrage. I will blast any schoolboard that tries this in my neighborhood.

"It's crucial to HIT them at that age", she vomits. Bet she's been hitting them since they were born.

Sorry this really ticks me off.

7. They'll test my child when they pry his urine sample from my cold, dead
hands! (lol) My son is in third grade (we live in Chandler), and if parents feel compelled to do this to their own children,I suppose that's their problem to suss out. Not MY child...and frankly, not an issue for the public schools to deal with, period.

8. what a terrible mother!

Rather than actually bringing up her children herself, she'd prefer to abandon them to some regimen of piss-surveillance by the State? This 'Gina Jeanette' person sounds like a stupid broad and terrible mother with no concept of family.
