Cheney Attacks Kerry on National Security
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=694&ncid=703&e=3&u=/ap/20041025/ap_on_el_pr/cheney

-snip-

In the book, Kerry "talks about Yasser Arafat as a statesman ... I've never looked on Yasser Arafat in quite that light," Cheney told hundreds of supporters.

Also, Kerry "talks about the primary answer to terrorism being law enforcement," Cheney added. "If you think only law enforcement is the way to respond to terror, you've got a pre-9/11 mind-set; there's no mention in the book of al-Qaida." The Kerry campaign said Cheney had taken a sentence in the book out of context.

At no time during his opening remarks on a college campus or in a brief question-and-answer session did Cheney make any mention of the new disclosure that hundreds of tons of explosives have disappeared in Iraq. The Cheney campaign referred questions to the White House.

The Kerry campaign fired back at the Cheney campaign's criticism.

"On the date that we learned the White House failed to secure 380 tons of highly explosive material, it's hardly surprising that Dick Cheney wants to change the subject," said Kerry campaign spokesman Phil Singer.

2. My gosh... do we FINALLY have something velcro here?
The vanishing explosives is becoming part of the narrative... every story today echoes that new story. They can't talk about Cheney or Bush campaigning without mentioning it.

Drip. Drip. Drip.

8. All I can guess
is that this administration is drunk with power.
talks about the primary answer to terrorism being law enforcement," Cheney added. "If you think only law enforcement is the way to respond to terror, you've got a pre-9/11 mind-set

blatant misquoting and NOBODY picks up on it?
I guess if they see they can get away with it, why try to hide it?

5. uncle dick

Cheney is such a jack-ass. To think that he can scare the american public into thinking that a vote for John Kerry is a vote for nuclear destruction is ridiculous. Oh wait ...gotta run, 'Survivor' is on and then I gotta clean my gun, slurp down some bud and then head out to church!

To think that people are falling for this poppy-cock is embarrasing. Makes me ashamed to live in the 'greatest nation on earth'. Lordy lordy when are people going to put down the remote control and start reading something. My Kingdom for a major news outlet that tells the truth!

anyway..check out my cartoons @

7. Any time BushCo mentions a "pre-9/11 mindset"
the Kerry camp should say "Your 'pre-9/11 mindset' let America get attacked and 3000 people get killed. Alot of good it does those people now, you getting up to speed after the fact."

Why won't Democrats hold Bush and Cheney accountable for the 9/11 failure? I don't understand it. It's rarely mentioned even here on DU. It's like Dems don't even understand what this election is about. If we lose this election, it will be because of this cowardice in standing up to BushCo.

"Where were you before 9/11, when it counted?"

You can say it fifty different ways.

In 8 days, you can make plans to return to Halliburton and start trading with the enemy again.

12. Well Arafat is certainly better spoken then ...
... BUSH.

I think Bush needs to get Quayle out on the campaign trail. Then he can show that there actually IS a worse public speaker in politics than himself!!!!

14. Just a bit ago,
I heard CNN quote the White House as saying that the missing explosives had been the responsibilty of The Iraqi Interim Government.

So there ya go. That's their answer. :wtf:

15. The 2nd in command of our beloved country. On 9-11 failure day.
Wants to tell Kerry about National Security? Give me a break. He blows hard. Still he has no substance to his fearmongering. Just a feverish will to try to scare the bejeebus out of everyone. And I'm more afraid of 4 more years of him and the chimp than anything else.
