Recovering Clinton Lauds 'Comeback' Kerry
Edited on Mon Oct-25-04 12:37 PM by Champ
By NEDRA PICKLER, Associated Press Writer

PHILADELPHIA - A smiling, energetic former President Clinton (news - web sites) campaigned for Democratic Sen. John Kerry (news - web sites) on Monday just seven weeks after undergoing heart surgery, telling a cheering crowd of thousands that Kerry "is going to make America the comeback country."

"If this isn't good for my heart, I don't know what is," Clinton proclaimed.

Democratic strategists hoped Clinton's appearance in the final days of the campaign would provide a jolt of excitement that would help energize the Democratic base and attract undecided voters who had supported Clinton.

"From time to time, I have been called the comeback kid. In eight days, John Kerry is going to make America the comeback country," Clinton said.

1. Yes! God bless Clinton!
I hope this gets A LOT of media play! And I hope the rally is replayed on C-SPAN later so I can catch it. :)

5. I didn't get a chance to see it, but I heard it on the radio
He sounds a tad tired, and a bit older than at the DNC. As much as I love hearing him speak, I hope they don't wear him out.

7. Hooray for President Clinton
He looked marvelous. What a thrill to see him back up! It's amazing watching the talking heads attempting to spin this as a much-needed spark for Kerry, as if Kerry doesn't have spark all on his own. I would really like someone to tell me if tweety was telling the truth when he said that Nixon drew a half million people in Philly when he spoke. I have never heard that said before and would like it verified. I haven't the foggiest idea, oh, wait, is it factcheck.org?

18. Having worked as a reporter back in undergrad, that sort of thing . . .
really pissed me off. A lot of people don't realize this, but the reporter doesn't choose what headline to have on the story; the editor does.

11. Showed whole speech on MSNBC only a part of Kerry
None of the other channels barely talked about it so MSNBC went up a few little points from how I viewed them negatively in my mind!

Clinton looked great, I just love his smile especially when John was talking about him.

19. There was a big screen set up on 16th St.
Even though I had a ticket I was so far from the stage I couldn't see a blessed thing so I moved over to 16th St. and watched it onscreen.

Big Dog and Kerry were awesome.

17. I was there, not far from the white ballon in your picture.
It was absolutely in-fuckin'-credible. At least 30,000, maybe more. Bill C was great, but I thought Kerry did as well if not better. If you want to hear how the local media is spinning the event view the video here: http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/news/10252004_election_visits.html

WARNING! DO NOT VIEW IF YOU HAVEN'T FULLY DIGESTED YOUR LUNCH. Vernon Odom, local reporter is a real moron.

21. Wow!
I love those pictures. I can't wait to watch it tonight on CSPAN. I love Bill Clinton. Maybe when John Kerry is elected I'll be able to finish Clinton's book. I've been reading it but it makes me depressed remembering what it was like to have an intelligent president.

23. It Is to Laugh!
Check out this quote from the article:

But Republican Party Chairman Ed Gillespie said Clinton's appearance with Kerry was "obviously a sign that Senator Kerry doesn't feel that he's got energized Democrats" and is hoping for "a little charisma transplant" from the former president.

Charisma transplant? You gotta be joking!

When you're running against this ...

and this ...

you're probably not worried about any supposed "lack" of charisma.

LOL! :D
