Jesse Jackson arrested in Yale Protest
<http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/national/apus_story.asp?category=1110&slug=Labor%20Day%20Rdp>

"NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson and 13 people were arrested Monday after they blocked traffic on the Yale University campus in support of striking university service and clerical workers

"This is the site of national Labor Day outrage," Jackson said. "This is going to be for economic justice what Selma was for the right to vote."

I know a lot of DUer's don't like him but I have to give him props for this one.

2. Jesse Jackson is not disliked on the DU!
Edited on Mon Sep-01-03 12:35 PM by twilight
at least not that I am aware of! His tireless work has gone on for many years. Sure some don't like him because of his "attitude" or whatever you want to call it, but I am a very BIG fan of his!!

JJ also has many Black voters out there that like him a lot. And he was THERE in Florida when they disenfranchized the voters in selection 2000 and fighting like a mad fiend in case you forgot!

Go JESSE and KEEP HOPE ALIVE!

3. What a man...
...he truly is a giant in the struggle for the common man, despite the continuous cruel efforts of the establishment to neutralize him. My hat's off to Jesse.

4. I like Jessie alot. At least he fights for the little guy
I have not agreed with ALL his battles but for the most part he speaks up where other people are too wussy to do..
The Right wing demonizes any black leader that speaks out anywhere anytime..From King to Sharpton to Jackson..the right wing work at the pace of getting 4 Clintons to get and discredit one black leader.

14. I heard him on c-span
he said, "No one likes a trouble maker until they are the one in trouble." I don't always agree with him, but I have a great deal of admiration and respect for him.

12. Remember Flroida Recount MOB....
Don't forget Florida Recount Mob.......
Jackson gets arrested ...these people go free......

Remember the Florida mob that broke into the counting headquarters and wre pushing through the door trying to get in? Who were these people? Were they concerned citizens who were merely expressing their political beliefs? Not hardly! Here's who they really were!

Tom Pyle, policy analyst, office of House Majority Whip Tom DeLay (R-Tex.).
Garry Malphrus, majority chief counsel and staff director, House Judiciary subcommittee on criminal justice.
Rory Cooper, political division staff member at the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Kevin Smith, former House Republican conference analyst and more recently of Voter.com.
Steven Brophy, former aide to Sen. Fred D. Thompson (R-Tenn.), now working at the consulting firm KPMG.
Matt Schlapp, former chief of staff for Rep. Todd Tiahrt (R-Kan.), now on the Bush campaign staff in Austin.
Roger Morse, aide to Rep. Van Hilleary (R-Tenn.).
