Schwarzenegger Planning to Attend a Single Debate
Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger will participate in only one debate with other recall candidates next month, according to a statement released Sunday.

Rep. David Dreier, co-chair of the actor's campaign, said Schwarzenegger will take part in the California Broadcasters Association's debate slated for the third week of September in Sacramento. The organization has said the televised debate will include the top six candidates who have obtained at least 10 percent support in polls by Sept. 5.

"Our campaign has received numerous invitations from a wide range of news organizations and community groups, which we greatly appreciate, and we have concluded that we will work exclusively with CBA," Dreier said in the statement.

Three other debates are scheduled for September. On Wednesday, Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante is expected to join state Sen. Tom McClintock, Peter Ueberroth, Arianna Huffington and Peter Camejo at a debate in Walnut Creek. Bustamante, Huffington and Camejo are also committed to appear at a debate Sept. 9 in Los Angeles.

1. Why does he even bother?
His ads are working. He's up in the polls. He's got plenty of money. And, besides, he said that he wouldn't accept campaign money; he doesn't need it. And, he wants to work for "all Kaleefornians". So what if he had a few 'youthful' indescretions in the past. And, never mind that he has accepted $1million in campaign contributions so far. No big deal! After all, he is a super-hero movie star. Ahhh! I know! He will save Kaleefornia on intuition alone!

3. Not to be uncharitable but...
Arnold has a problem with English. I don't think he's particularly looking forward to being side by side with the more eloquent candidates - which is just about everybody.

4. It's "next month" today.
He'd better start cramming. His opponents are going to be keying in on him, and right now, he doesn't know squat.

5. Gonad the Barbarian
Watch the rest of the pack focus on Arnold's youthful indescretions in the upcoming debate when they can.
