Japan Ruling Party Executive Slams Kerry on N.Korea
Oct. 15, 2004 — TOKYO (Reuters) - The No. 2 official in Japan's ruling party sharply criticized U.S. Democratic challenger John Kerry's North Korea policy on Friday and said he hoped President Bush would be re-elected, media said.

The comments come a day after Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi made remarks that appeared to suggest he would prefer to see Bush win the Nov. 2 U.S. presidential election.

"I think there would be trouble if it's not President Bush," Liberal Democratic Party Secretary General Tsutomu Takebe told a radio program, Kyodo news agency reported.

"For instance, Mr. Kerry wants to handle the North Korean issue bilaterally, which is out of the question. We're now in the era of multilateralism," Takebe was quoted as saying, referring to six-way talks involving North and South Korea, Japan, the United States, China and Russia over the North's nuclear ambitions.
..............
Many ordinary Japanese, however, prefer Kerry.

A poll published by the liberal Asahi Shimbun daily on Friday showed 51 percent of respondents wanted the Massachusetts senator to win, while 30 percent favored the incumbent president.

11. I think he got it right....
THEY are in trouble if Bush isn't re-elected.

From the little I have read about Japanese politics of late, they are about as adored as Bush is here (hence the poll results going for Kerry).

If Bush is de-throned, maybe the rest of the world will wake up with us...

Didn't Kerry say he supported both bilateral and multilateral talks?

This idiot has been a Bush supporter since day one.

7. The LDP is betting on the "howard" precedent
These remarks are preparation expecting * to win, and to gain good
kudos with the returning dictator.

When kerry wins, he should probably just set heavy quota's on
japanese imports and see how long the LDP acts bossy. Obviously
the BFEE crime family includes the Yakuza and the Russian mafia.

9. Mr. Takebe should watch his mouth. When he has to deal with....
President John Kerry and a Democratically controlled Senate (which passes treaties and International agreements) he will find his Country having "economic" problems with the U.S.A!

Kerry might have to play hardball with the current Japanese Government to get their economy down to oust this government and replace it with a more Liberal/Center Left one!
