Rumor of a Draft Touches a Nerve (Rock the Vote emails Draft Card)
http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-youthbar10oct10,1,7418664,print.story

An army of new voters received a startling call to serve recently, when one of the largest nonpartisan groups trying to increase voting by young people sent fake draft cards to nearly 640,000 e-mail addresses.

"You've been drafted" was the subject line of the message sent by Rock the Vote. The message contained an image of a draft card addressed to the recipient and warned, "real cards may be in the mail soon if the situation doesn't improve."

President Bush and Sen. John F. Kerry both have rejected suggestions that they would move to reinstitute the draft, positions they reiterated in their debate Friday night in St. Louis.

But by raising the threat of the draft, Rock the Vote has staked its claim as the edgiest of the multimillion-dollar campaigns trying to push young people to the polls. The effort has also caught the attention of Republicans, who said the group misled voters and crossed into partisan politics.

Yeah Repugs, like Sinclair hasn't crossed into partisan politics - hypocrites!

2. Gosh. I wonder why they don't believe the GOP won't draft.
It's not like the Bush Administration has ever lied about anything else in the last 4 years.

Somebody has to look out for the youth. And it sure as hell isn't going to be the warmongering chickenhawk administration.

4. Couple this with the story of a soldier suing the NG over Stop Loss
by claiming it's illegal, and the war in Iraq had no ties to Al Qaeda so the President doesn't have the authority.

This Army is broken and I wonder if there are enough men and women who will sign up.

I think every Young Repuke rally ought to be well-attended by Army and Marine recruiters. Of course our recruiters are too smart to waste their time.

6. Congress:send your kids/Shrub:send your daughters
If you really believe this is worth dying for, commit your own families--
Draft your relatives and friends!
If it's not worth dying for then GET OUT NOW and allow the less financially fortunate
a chance at life! now that's truly PRO LIFE
But Shrubby, you ran when it was your turn didn't you !

8. Welcome to DU CCUSA.....
love that pic, and I couldn't agree more with the text of your post. I think this election will turn on getting out the youth vote. I honestly think for the first time in many decades, young adults will vote their numbers. <fingers crossed>.

10. thanks TD
I agree,
the young voters realize alot's at stake(at least those who aren't mindwashed or wearing brownshirts)...(they think they're exempt too)
But most of the rest totally understand-
their fate rests on the outcome of this election!
This block of voters can easily outnumber the "base" that * thinks he has!
