California Legislative Black Caucus Votes On Recall Issues
California Legislative Black Caucus Votes On Recall Issues
Caucus Says 'No On Recall, Yes On Bustamante, No On 54

POSTED: 1:21 p.m. PDT August 29, 2003

LOS ANGELES -- The California Legislative Black Caucus is endorsing "No on Recall, Yes on Bustamante, No on 54."

Assemblyman Jerome Horton says the caucus is "adamantly opposed" to the October seventh recall of Governor Davis. He calls the election the result of "political tactics" that are "deplorable."

The caucus is urging everyone to vote no on the recall but to vote for Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante as a replacement candidate should Davis be ousted. Horton says Bustamante has "a long-standing history of promoting tolerance and diversity." (snip/...)
