Democrat Kerry was preferred by 48 percent of registered voters and Republican Bush by 41 percent in a three-way race with independent candidate Ralph Nader, according to the Keystone Poll.

Nader, who is locked in a court fight over his right to be listed on the state ballot in the Nov. 2 election, was backed by 3 percent and 8 percent were undecided.

Among likely voters, Kerry was favored by 49 percent, compared with 43 percent for Bush and 2 percent for Nader.

1. In heavily Republican Bucks County
The Kerry/Edwards lawn signs are springing up all over the place. The local Kerry headquarters was out of signs when I volunteered on Wednesday. :-( Also, I have been phone banking, and there are many, many Republicans voting for Kerry.

I think it's all over for the Chimp here :-).

4. that's no landslide....
280 is just above the needed minimum.... and much of support on that map is soft. Don't go crazy just yet. Soon, it will be justified, but not yet.

Two Trouble Spots for Bush: Iraq and the Philly Suburbs

By David S. Broder
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, October 9, 2004; Page A14

EXTON, Pa. -- The growing voter focus on Iraq and the continued weakness of President Bush in Philadelphia suburbs such as this one are tilting the key battleground of Pennsylvania toward Democratic challenger John F. Kerry.

Bush has made 39 trips to Pennsylvania as president in an effort to swing its 21 electoral votes, which Al Gore won by five percentage points in 2000, into the Republican column -- a feat that his strategists say would almost guarantee a second term. But he has run up against a seemingly immovable barrier in voters such as Marshall Liss.

The bearded martial arts instructor has decided that the reasons the administration has given for going to war with Iraq are "ridiculous," and because of that, he regards Bush as "a complete failure." He is no enthusiast for Kerry, saying that "I thought he was clueless until I saw the debate," but he has decided to "give Kerry a chance to straighten out this mess."

6. Chimp gave a speech in Wilkes Barre the other day.
My uncle lives nearby and said the repukes had a hard time finding enough people to fill the hall. Protestors kept away. In that area people need jobs -- not an empty suit making empty promises.

9. I'm in VERY right-wing Berks County...
And while * signs slightly outnumber Kerry signs, the fact that four years ago there were ZERO Gore signs and this year there are ANY Kerry signs let alone almost as many K as *, that's a good sign IMHO.

I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed and hoping (and believing) that whatever the polls show, new voters will represent several points more for Kerry.

PENNSYLVANIA IS KERRY COUNTRY!!!
