Springsteen Adds N.J. Show to Vote Tour
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Days after the official all-star finale in Washington, D.C., Bruce Springsteen (news) will steer the Vote for Change tour homeward to host a concert at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, N.J.

The bill for the Oct. 13 show will feature Springsteen and the E Street Band, Jackson Browne (news) and John Fogerty (news), as well as Springsteen's wife/E Street Band singer/guitarist Patti Scialfa.

Tickets for the show will go on sale Wednesday (Oct. 6) via Ticketmaster (online and phone orders only), according to a note sent this afternoon to Springsteen's official e-mail list. Like all of the shows on the Vote for Change tour, it will be produced by MoveOnPAC and benefit America Coming Together.

"The Vote for Change experience has been so wonderful that we couldn't let it end without taking it to New Jersey," Springsteen's manager, Jon Landau, says in the message. "The Meadowlands is going to be shaking."

1. Of course he couldn't.
Isn't it a law that he has to play in NJ every time he tours?

On the other hand, so much for all those polls that said...

New Jersey residents who don't own more than three Springsteen albums pay higher taxes!

2. The reports I heard of his Cleveland show where pretty impressive..
....REM, Bruce, Fogerty.....sounds like it was a rare night out. The two reviews Ive read sound like this is something for the record books, as one of the best concerts the posters have heard.

I went to the Dave Mathews/Ben Harper/J5 show in Dayton, and the place was packed, too..11,000 screaming fans.

10. Try www.backstreets.com
Of course, it is a fan run site, so they may not be THAT objective... :)

3. I was at the Philly show Friday...
And have decided to break my Hiatus here and start back up...

The Philly show was AWSOME! Missed Bright Eyes due to talking politics out in the parking lot. Lots of good people there.

R.E.M. was good. Bruce guested on "Man in the Moon".

The E Street Band set was great with the addition of John Fogerty.

I am still hoping of scoring DC tickets this week during the ticket drops. Will try for Meadowlands tickets Wednesday. Seeing Bruce and Jackson Brown together will be a treat.

Oh, the Dixie Chicks showed up at the end of Bruce's set in Detroit last night...

7. Thanks...
There were a lot of local campaign workers at the show also. Lots of recruiting for "Get out the Vote" efforts in PA.

It really show's that Bruce wanted to plug into the fan base. During the all-afternoon tailgate, people were sharing grills, drinks, and stories with total strangers. People hooked up others who came without tickets.

Philly is Bruce's second hometown outside the Meadowlands...

5. I was at the Cleveland and show and it was awesome!
Kicked off with emoRocker Bright Eyes - a cross bt. Kurt Cobain and early Dylan. He was a bit loud for an acoustic act but I liked his voice and lyrics. He got his chance to rock later in the show with the others and showed the spunk you'd expect from a guy in his 20's. What gig for him - to open for REM and Bruce!

The show really started when Michael Stipe brought his energy and REM on stage. Stipe was dressed in all white suit with a Kerry T shirt that he revealed later in the show. Then the Boss and the entire E Street Band rocked the stage. John Fogerty joined in with Fortunate Son and other classics. Stipe came back and joined the party. Ended after midnight (4 1/2 hour show) with a jam session by all! The music was awesome, the message was clear, and the Dems were stoked!

Damn, these 50 somethings can rock! It's great being a Democrat; I believe if you are a Repub you have to pretend to love country music.

Gund Arena was a liberal nirvana with everyone donned in pro-Kerry, anti-Bush clothes and paraphernalia. You could feel the energy.

8. Did you catch the SMILES that the bass player and the other guy from R.E.M
during "Born to Run"? It was like "I am really playing "Born to Run" with the Boss and the E Street Band"...

I also hear that Michael Stip was also jamming in the pit with the rest of the fans during most of the set.
