Mount St. Helens Erupting Again
MOUNT ST. HELENS NATIONAL MONUMENT, Wash. - Mount St. Helens is experiencing another eruption that began around 9:45 a.m.
A large, white plume can be seen emanating from the top of the mountain.

A large bulge inside the crater of Mount St. Helens measuring between 50 and 100 feet had scientists on alert overnight as they kept a close watch on the volcano.

"It means the magma is getting much closer to the surface," said Tom Pierson with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). "We're really starting to see a dramatic increase in the crater floor. It's probably going to be sooner rather than later if it does indeed come all of the way up."

2. Mt. St. Helens Cam
It's a cam only in the sense that it takes a snapshot every 10 minutes. But, hey, better than nothing for the cube rats.

5. *Some* cube rats can...
Unfortunately, I have network nazis who disable streaming video through the proxies and/or firewalls.

*wistful sigh*

6. calling it a "steam eruption"
"Something hot coming in contact with snow or water"
~US Geological Society Rep.

Guess that means the actual eruption (I.e. lots of ash, lava, etc) is coming soon.

I pray everyone near there has evacuated. :scared: (scared for them, I'm thankfully on the other coast)

9. They've evacuated the surrounding area
It's sparsely populated, so it's unlikely to put anyone in danger. :)
