Post-Election Changes Loom at FCC
WASHINGTON (Billboard) - Forecasting the future lineup and policy decisions of the Federal Communications Commission (news - web sites) after the Nov. 2 presidential election right now is a job best done by observers with a lot of Washington experience, a crystal ball and a divining rod.

snip

Most suggest that the current administration cannot be pleased with Powell's job so far, considering the publicly booed, congressionally scorched and court-rejected media ownership rules he promulgated, or with the agonizingly slow U-turn he made on indecency enforcement efforts.

snip

Observers wonder whether a returning Bush administration would give Adelstein a ticket. He's been an irritant to the GOP, its broadcast industry campaign contributors and Powell with his critical views on the consolidation of radio and other media and his support of low-power radio.

1.  CYA
With Howard Stern :)

Somehow sate his listeners (and demographic) while still managing not to lose their vote.

2. The administration must be absolutely delighted with Powell.

Of course the media consolidation was unpopular, but they got away with it,
and gained the unqualified support of all of the networks, and nearly
all of the newspapers (who'se share value goes up when the networks try
to buy them up).
He has delivered the entire mass media to the Bush reSelection campaign.
Never before has the media so lopsidedly supported one candidate, and
biased their news so blatantly in his favor. Without all that support,
and the attendant inflation of Boosh poll numbers, * would be in the
20's or more likely impeached/resigned already.

that is, when compared to GWBush's actions, Colin Powell's kid Michael Powell chair of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), is doing a great job! heh.

edited to add an "s" after "communication"
