Kerry Pulls Ahead of Bush in Newsweek Poll
Don't read too much into it.. at least the dark clouds over Kerry's campaign have started to clear.

Sat Oct 2, 9:15 PM ET Politics - Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat challenger John Kerry (news - web sites) has pulled ahead of President Bush (news - web sites) in a poll published by Newsweek magazine showing Thursday's television debate erased the lead Bush had enjoyed for the last month.

In a two-way contest, the Kerry/Edwards ticket in the Nov. 2 presidential election led by 49 percent against 46 percent for Bush/Cheney, according to 1,013 registered voters polled by Princeton Survey Research Associates International.

2. Well within statistical error territory
this is not the time to get giddy. The time will be On November 2nd, when Bush gives his concesion speech.

Not BEFORE folks....

NOT BEFORE

The only poll that matters is no November 2nd

4. Bush never concedes...
..he appoints an army of lawyers. And when that doesn't work either , he will order a military strike on the DNC headquarters.

6. Don't forget stepped up air and ground battles
...in Iraq after every major jolt of bad news. It was only a few hours after Bush's horrible showing in the debate that bullets and bombs began to fly.

Sons-a-bitches.

9. Oh I am fully aware
Edited on Sun Oct-03-04 01:04 AM by nadinbrzezinski
and we may not truly know the result of the election until WAY AFTER NOBEMBER SECOND

That is by far the worst case

But today I feel that we may see him actually conceede, the best case sceanario insofar as the election is concerned.

Still the ONLY POLL that matters is November, 2nd, and these folks may try to depress the Demo Vote by either making us guiddy or just give up.

16. Doesn't mean it wasn't planned to make news the day after...
It was a good way to help him out, no matter how the debate went. If he had done well, it would be more stories to bolster his "strong leadership." As it was, since he did pitifully, it may give the right-wing an excuse to say "Look! It's not going as bad in Iraq as Kerry said!"

IMO, this new wave of fighting was planned to coincide with the debate as a contingency plan to shift public opinion in Bush's favor.

17. There's no oil in Samarra
Oil is at $50 a barrel and that price is a direct result of the 2 million barrels taken off the world market by the continuing instability in the parts of Iraq which have oil.

I wouldn't overestimate the effect of such "battles." They take a city, the insurgents scatter. They back off. The insurgents regroup. This scenario could be repeated for the next 50 years. I think people "get it" by now.

3. How long until the Republican weighting gets skewed even more
Will the media go back to their old ways?

"In a poll of likely voters (Republican 80%, Democratic 10%, Independent 10%), George Bush leads by 6 points, 52% to 46%."

Stay tuned.

8. I think it's great
The cable "news" channels and Gallup continue to whore for Bush, but their facts are so skewed even Joe-Bob Sixpack has no trouble seeing it. Their desperation brings me indescribable joy.

5. Bush Took A Huge Hit in this Poll!
Edited on Sun Oct-03-04 12:52 AM by Erika
Yes, we know that just like in 2000, Bush will be the first one out there with lawyers challenging close results. But Bush did take a HUGE morale hit in this Newsweek poll. A HUGE one.

11. BUSH IN VIOLATION OF DEBATE AGREEMENT
The Bush campaign appears to be violating its own debate agreement.

Clause 5(e): "Neither film footage no video footage nor any audio excerpts from the debates may be used publicly by either candidate's campaign through any means, including but not limited to radio, television, internet, or videotapes, whether broadcast or distributed in any manner."

Yet George W Bush's web page has a "Global Test" ad up that claims it's a TV ad, directly using Kerry's speech from the debate.

Is the debate agreement now null and void????

It's a pleasure to compare the Sept 2-3 results (43 KE to 54 BC) -- so BC's lost 9 points in the last month ...
