CNN journalist 'to be released'

AN Arab Israeli producer working for US television network CNN who was kidnapped on Monday by Palestinian militants in Gaza is to be released in the next few hours, the Palestinian chief of police said today.

General Saeb al-Ajez said those behind the abduction of Riad Ali had called the Palestinian police, saying that the hostage was "in good health and will be released in the coming hours".

that they specifically asked for the guy, they knew what car he was in, and wanted only him. I wonder if they had info to give him.

I also heard somewhere Riad Ali was a female. I can't find any mention in a google search either way.

GAZA (Reuters) - Palestinian gunmen on Tuesday released an Israeli Arab producer for CNN television kidnapped a day earlier in the Gaza Strip.
Police officials told Reuters that Riad Ali was turned over to them in Gaza City. CNN confirmed Ali's release.

Israel Radio quoted Ali's father as saying he had spoken by telephone to his son who told him that he felt fine and was waiting to return home.

There was no claim of responsibility for Ali's abduction and no word on a possible motive. Israel Radio said he was snatched by members of Islamist militant movement Hamas, which denied any role in the incident.
