Britain doing all it can to free hostage - Straw
The government is doing all it can to free Iraq hostage Kenneth Bigley and all nations must unite to defeat the insurgency there, Foreign Secretary Jack Straw says.

Straw addressed the U.N. General Assembly in New York on Thursday after Bigley made a desperate plea for his life from captivity and his family heaped pressure on the government which has ruled out negotiations for his release.

While most victims of terrorism in Iraq are Iraqis, some are foreigners "helping Iraqis to build a more stable and a more prosperous country," Straw said.

"One of those is Kenneth Bigley, a British engineer held hostage by terrorists who have already barbarically murdered his two American comrades," Straw said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with their families, and we continue to do all that we can to secure Mr Bigley's release."

2. I've got an idea.Why don't we trade Blair for Bigley ?
Then let Bigley listen to Blair plea for his life and respond we will not negotiate with terrorists.

3. Because...
Once Tony gets his dish of water slid through the hatch to his hostage cell, he'd think he was home.

5. What do you suppose the odds are that Blair will be joining
John Major at Carlisle when he's ousted? Blair's getting something out of being the coWard-in-chief's lapdog.

7. Ya, it's a tragedy how many people the Killer B's murdered.
Are people bombed from the skies murdered too or are they in a different classification?

8. The British part of Iraq isn't in so much chaos and Blair is actually...
...trying to save this guy's life (they released one of the two women, but the US stopped the release of the other one).

The UK is probably saving way more lives by being involved in Iraq than if the US were in there alone.
