Baghdad residents slam Bush's poor post- war record
http://www.dailystar.com.lb/article.asp?edition_id=10&categ_id=2&article_id=8620

BAGHDAD: Iraqis in Baghdad expressed a bleak view on Wednesday about their country's prospects and lashed out at U.S. President George W. Bush for touting Iraq's strides toward democracy since the March 2003 invasion.

While large swathes of Iraq welcomed the U.S.-led intervention that toppled former dictator Saddam Hussein, Bush supporters are nowhere to be seen a year and a half down the road and many are backing the election bid of his Democrat rival John Kerry.

"We have been waiting for a long time for Bush to deliver, but nothing has changed and the situation is even getting worse every day, especially the security situation, with crime, murders and kidnappings plaguing the country," said Shawki Joubbouri, 35, a policeman.

"He is sitting idly by, doing nothing to stop this ... We cannot trust him anymore," he charged. "Bush is seeing what he wants to see in Iraq, his speech is pure fantasy."

<snip>

The hatred Bush inspires in the Arab world is equaled only by that of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, and scores of Iraqis accuse Bush's administration of deliberately fomenting chaos in their country to tighten its clout on the region and plunder its resources.

2. Ingrates!
Bush should be beloved in Iraq and all throughout the Arab world. After all, as Dear Leader said today, Iraq is a shining example for the Middle East.

He rescued them from Saddam's oppression and introduced them to freedom. Some would call it 'mass chaos' or 'mayhem' or even 'hell', but that's beside the point. They're free, goddammit.

So 30,000 people are dead? They died so Bush could boost his poll numbers, so they died well.

Bush saved them from Saddam's torture chambers and rape rooms and introduced them to America's finest. Is it his fault they never watched, 'Animal House' and can't appreciate that our soldiers needed to let off steam?

I don't know what else to say. I'm stunned at the ingratitude for all that Dear Leader has done for them.

4. Today on the radio
they were reading something Richard Perle said exactly one year ago today, which was that one year from that date, there would probably be a large public square dedicated to George Bush, to evidence the gratitude the Iraqi people have for Bush. Oops.

6. I continue to be refreshed by the clear grasp of reality...
... that citizens of *other* countries seem to possess.

"Bush is seeing what he wants to see in Iraq, his speech is pure fantasy."

"We have been waiting for a long time for Bush to deliver, but nothing has changed and the situation is even getting worse every day,..."

Deliberately fomenting chaos... and the longer the chaos exists... the longer shrubs friends can maintain control of oilfields, formerly state run infrastructure.. utilities.... etc.

And the longer the Iraqis can go unemployed with nothing to do but realize how severely they've been duped.

12. Say, didn't Monkeyboy say just yesterday that the media is too pessimistic
and that Americans needed to hear Iraquis speak to get the true picture?

Well they are speaking loud and clear and realize that Bush is delusional and that their country is dangerous and in chaos. Oh well, at least they're free.(sarcasm)
