Despite disenchantment with candidates, Ohio's youth plans to vote
CLEVELAND - Young adults in the presidential battleground of Ohio aren't thrilled with their choices this election, but they say they'll vote Nov. 2 - no matter how jaded they may be.

"Maybe if we had a president who smoked weed once in a while, it'd be cool. Someone we could relate to," said Benjamin Henson, 23, a University of Cincinnati student who works at a valet-parking stand in downtown Cleveland.

That pipe dream may resonate with some of the 18- to 24-year-olds across the state, but most young Ohioans care more about the economy, lost jobs and the well-being of their friends and siblings who are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.

They also worry about the potential for a return of the draft, even though President Bush and his opponent, Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., have stopped well short of proposing one.

1. Hey, kids: If Bu$h is given four more years, I promise you there will be
a draft.

Vote for Kerry and there will not be a draft.

Any questions?

2. "Vote for Kerry and there will not be a draft."
I wouldn't put that much trust in him either, but he would be less likely to bring back the draft.

3. ....no matter how jaded they may be
...Ohio is the prize both these canidates covet.
They both floood the network with the media blitz most state only see on Nov 1st.

I shudder what it will be like by Nov 1st :)
They both better start to jump higher.

So far, Ohio leans in the red direction and seems pretty strong about it.

Kids ( 18 - 24 ) don't want to hear the dead horse constantly being beaten.

Ohio Rules in this contest.

4. My late Great Uncle once said...
"If you stepped into shit once, and you know you stepped into shit, don't step into it again."

Ohio stepped into shit four years ago with Bush, six years ago with Gov. Taft, and 12 years ago with Gov. Voinovich. And now, it looks like Ohio is ready to step back into shit again with Bush for another four years.

Somehow, I don't think we've realized yet how much shit we've stepped into.

5. I advise kids and adults alike to rise above cynicism,...
,...engage in hefty skepticism, accept that change is inevitable, believe that the future can be better and KNOW that humanity shapes reality.
