The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

1. Dribbling out the fatalities one by one
This is disgusting. All a big PR show and all I can think of is those 1020 families whose lives will never be the same :cry:

according to my calculations, should the current casualty rate remain constant, this is when the number of American troops killed in Iraq will pass 2,000. (And God only knows how many more Iraqis will be dead, because according to CENTCOM they don't count.)

Is anyone or anything going to stop this from happening?

8. I was reading on
another forum the title of a thread which announced the troops DO NOT WANT TO COME HOME.

I didn't read any of it, but I would only assume that they are still so deluded and brainwashed that they think they are doing Gods' work.

Or is it *'s work or is it one and the same in their neuronically-cleansed gray matter?

Maybe they do not want to come home, but apparently they have long since overstayed their welcome, which wasn't much of one to begin with compared with the ticker-tape victory parades through downtown Baghad they had been told to expect.

9. If Bush "wins" and has his way, the casualty rate will be compounded
Since I'm sure he has several other countries we need to "liberate". So we'll have casualties to report from Iraq...Iran...Syria...god knows where else.

We CAN stop this from happening:

BUSH MUST GO!!!

10. Another one of ours
When the 3rd Corp out of CO. had sent 15,000 of its soldiers in the first assault, they'd returned home 12 months later with 46 deaths.

The 1ID had sustained 46 deaths with 12,000 soldiers after its first four months. It's well beyond that tragic number now, but I don't know the exact count. Wish I did.

What's certain is that the 1ID won't be coming home after 12 months. That division will easily go 15 months or longer, as had the 1AD.

12. The old lie: Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori.
Bent double, like old beggars under sacks,
Knock-kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge,
Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs
And towards our distant rest began to trudge.
Men marched asleep. Many had lost their boots
But limped on, blood-shod. All went lame; all blind;
Drunk with fatigue; deaf even to the hoots
Of disappointed shells that dropped behind.

GAS! Gas! Quick, boys!-- An ecstasy of fumbling,
Fitting the clumsy helmets just in time;
But someone still was yelling out and stumbling
And floundering like a man in fire or lime.--
Dim, through the misty panes and thick green light
As under a green sea, I saw him drowning.

In all my dreams, before my helpless sight,
He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning.

If in some smothering dreams you too could pace
Behind the wagon that we flung him in,
And watch the white eyes writhing in his face,
His hanging face, like a devil's sick of sin;
If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood
Come gargling from the froth-corrupted lungs,
Obscene as cancer, bitter as the cud
Of vile, incurable sores on innocent tongues,--
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est
Pro patria mori.
