Democrats Lose Bid for (Cheney's) Energy Task Force Info
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 06:01 PM by party_line
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Republicans on a House committee squelched a Democratic attempt on Wednesday to seek information on Vice President Cheney's energy task force, in a rowdy session punctuated by cries of "Shame!" from Democrats.
On a party line vote of 30-22, the panel voted down the Democratic motion for the committee to ask the White House for the names of members and other information about the 2001 task force that formulated energy policy.

Republicans, including chairman Rep. Joe Barton of Texas, noted Democrats had failed to get the information in various court cases, and charged they were now trying to embarrass the Bush administration ahead of elections with a motion they knew had no hope of approval by a Republican-majority committee.

"I am not going to allow the Energy and Commerce Committee to become a political circus," Barton declared. But he had some trouble keeping order after he announced he would not allow any debate on the subject.

"Shame on you, Mr. Chairman," shouted Rep. Jan Schakowsky, an Illinois Democrat. Committee Republicans booed her, and some in the audience applauded, while Barton observed in his Texas drawl: "The lady is entitled to her opinion."

7. He falsely implies that they can be embarrassed.

None of the BS that has come out so far has embarrassed them. Embarrassment requires a certain moral sensibility that they seem to utterly lack. Watching them, I have a hard time imagining what it would take.

2. Gee, I wonder why he thinks it would be a "circus"
They could end the "Circus" right now, just release the docs. Unless, of course, there's something that might be... embarrasing...

4. The reason they are secret is
his energy policy involved rading Afghanistan and Iraq. It's all about controlling fossil fuels. Those battlegrounds are not about terrorism, but the control of oil.

10. That is correct. They probably also discuss the looting of California.
They will discuss the "need" to exploit the Asian market first which is why the Afghanistan pipeline HAD to be completed. Cheney organized 9-11 so that these projects could go forward. Kenny Boy was losing his ASS on his crooked Indian energy deal and Cheney bailed him out with the 9-11 attacks and the subsequent Afganistan war.

11. You are 100% and absolutely correct...
Yup.

I actually have the originals of the secret videotapes from their meetings stashed away in a VERY safe place. Actually found them on Ebay back in August 2001. They are really quite interesting.

On them, you can see:

Cheney and Kenny Boy and the Reps from all the major TX-based oil companies, poring over their detailed maps of Iraq's oil fields that they had spread over all the tables ...

KennyBoy casually asking UnkaDick what sort of "Pearl Harbor" did he and his PNAC buddies have in mind?

To which Cheney slyly replys "Don't worry, we have that angle well covered... Hopefully, it'll be taken care of in time for you guys to get yourselves some emergency funding for your Dabhol plant before your house of cards comes crumbling down all around you..."

KennyBoy mouthing his extreme gratitude for Dick's friendship and help, from a crouched position, kneepads firmly in place...

5. You know, Mr. Barton
People who have something to hide are usually afraid of getting caught. Now, who said that? Think, think.
