No "Foreign Insurgents" Among Telafer Dead

Over 50,000 Turkmen began filing back into the northern Iraqi city of Telafer after American forces ended a 12-day siege on the predominantly Turkmen city.

However, no foreign insurgents were found among the dead in the city.

The American led forces had justified their operation against Telafer on the grounds that foreign fighters had sought refuge in the city. Harsh reaction from Turkey eventually prompted the Americans to call off their siege.

Chief Doctor of Telafer Hospital Fevzi Ahmed confirmed that there were no foreign resisters among the dead. The 12-day siege left the city facing problems with disease and limited access to running water. A few shipments of medical supplies have arrived in the city.
