Mexico Challenges U.S. on Protection of UN Workers
UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Challenging the United States, Mexico scheduled a Security Council vote for Tuesday on the protection of U.N. workers, opposed by Washington because of a reference to the International Criminal Court.

Negotiations continued late on Monday on language on the court, which the Bush administration vehemently rejects. Security Council diplomats said some progress was made should the vote, delayed once already, take place on Tuesday.

The Mexican draft, co-sponsored by France, Germany, Russia, Bulgaria and Syria, was first circulated in April and then revived last week after the disastrous bombing of U.N. headquarters in Baghdad on Aug. 19.

The action has put the United States in a difficult position. Vetoing or even abstaining on the resolution so soon after 23 people were killed in the bombing would be difficult to explain, diplomats said.

1. Difficult to explain?
Like they give a flying fuck. When was the last time they explained anything?

A pox on them.

2. You know, I hope they get war criminal Negroponte to veto
A veto would be consistent with their worldview, and the rest of the world (and maybe even the American public) would get yet another example of just how wretched these people really are.

4. Bush doesn't care about the U.S. or the U.N.
He cares about money and power.

6. This whole business is so fucking unreal!
No one seems to know what the hell they are doing! How long will the media and public let this crap continue? We are in as big a mess as we have ever been in in our history and these dimbulb neocons haven't a clue as to what is going on noe how to deal with it.

A poster the other day in an unrelated thread spoke of the"elephant in the parlor" that everyone was ignoring - well that elephant is the US and the world had better start noticing, and quick!

The most imbarrassing part of all of this is the American people. Who are we? What are we? I am affraid that we deserve what is coming, because we, in the end, are the "problem". I think all the rest of the world is finally catching on that it's the American people who are doing this damage to the world - not some isolated group of usurpors - it is us.
