Aide: Bush Faith Has Been Misunderstood
WASHINGTON -- President Bush's religious faith is "mainstream America" and no different from previous presidents, the director of his Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives said Friday.

"The president's faith has been misunderstood," said the White House aide, Jim Towey. "I don't see him as any different from his predecessors, both Democrats and Republicans." Towey cited Democrats Jimmy Carter and Franklin Roosevelt.
.......

"He does not believe God told him to run, or told him he would win, or that God told him to drop any bombs anywhere in the world. That's not his theology, his philosophy, his ethos," Caldwell said.

2. Wow, they don;t ind lying even WHEN the quotes are out there
that demonstrated the lie.

Now they have to pretend for a short time not to be Theological Fanatics ("For Christ and Liberty!" which is laughable considering every time religious fanatics got in charge, Liberty was the first thing to go) to sucker people...again.

So they lie, KNOWING that AP writer (note he is a religious writer, and thus as schooled in investigative technique and fact-checking as Faux News or 1978 Soviet Pravda) won't check their statements.

Can a Free Nation survive the Sovietization of media?

We are going to find out.

4. Not according to Prime Minister Abbas
http://www.unc.edu/depts/diplomat/archives_roll/2003_10-12/mirra_theol/mirra_theol.html

The Israeli newspaper, Haaretz (26 June 2003), reports that Bush told Palestinian Prime Minister Abbas that, "God told me to strike Al Qaeda and I struck them, and then he instructed me to strike at Saddam, which I did." Bush’s theological musings may be a bit brazen, but they are perfectly consistent with religious metaphors that are deeply embedded in America’s foundation

6. And yet previous presidents were able to muddle along
WITHOUT an "Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives"....

Nor did they ever say to reporters that Jews were going to hell because they weren't saved....

then why does he have an Office of "Faith-Based and Community Initiatives?" We all know which religion benifits from this "aid," and it ain't Budhism or Islam.

16. Wait just a minute!
"He does not believe God told him to run, or told him he would win, or that God told him to drop any bombs anywhere in the world. That's not his theology, his philosophy, his ethos," Caldwell said.

Has he not said God told him to run? Or something similar to that? I'll have to Google it later, unless someone else comes up with quotes before me.

I am mainstream America. Mainstream Christians hold their beliefs close to their hearts. It is a personal faithing process.

Bush* is not mainstream. His behavior is not mainstream. I have no idea what his personal beliefs are; he could be faking it for all I know, but nothing about his public display of religion is mainstream.

I not only resent his past behavior and this flip-flop for Christ press release, it insults my intelligence.

"God told him to drop any bombs anywhere in the world."
