When Louis Krishkunas got the news today, the President of the ISU College Republicans was eager to spread the word. The word that for a while on Thursday, Iowa State will be seeing double. "You know, we got some specail visitors comin' to campus. It's, you know, President Bush's daughters."

But the word is being kept secret, sort of, Barbara and Jenna will talk to an invite-only crowd. The twins are easing their way into the campaign spotlight. They'll be in the shadow of the Campanille. "They just seem like normal college students to a lot of people out there," says Brad Lents, a senior from Winterset. "But to see them get involved on the national stage like this is something amazing, and somethin' that we're gonna celebrate."

Barbara and Jenna want to convince their peers to jump on the Bush bus. And from the opinions we received, they shouldn't have much trouble swaying male voters... "Uh, they're beautiful and you just didn't have that with the last presidency," says one.

We also discovered the Bush twins will have to pull a few more tricks to impress the female voters at Iowa State. "The campaign they've got goin' here is 'Hey! look at me. I'm cute! Boys, vote for my dad.' and what's sad is that will probably work for guys on this campus."

I saw Alexandra and Vanessa Kerry (along with Cate Edwards and Andre Heinz) speak at a college campus. They eloquently discussed the importance of the election, the impact of bush policies on the environment and economy, and the future of health care. There was NO "Boys, vote for my dad!" about it.

on edit: If Jenna and Barbara Bush could discuss issues, too, it would be the same thing. But, if the story is correct, they are going there to look pretty and flirt. Thus, the story implies they are being pimped.

First off - the only ones "seeing double" will be the drunken Bush twins. They are anything but identical twins, so how the hell could anyone "see double"?

Third - it is quite likely that they will be using their alleged sex appeal to try to sway the male voters. We can only hope that the women of ISU hold their feet to the fire and make them give some substantive answers. Maybe the males would settle for: "um, just vote for our dad, 'cause, like, we're hot and we like to party", but I sure hope the women don't!
