NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--In 30 out of 35 countries polled, majorities or
pluralities prefer to see U.S. Sen. John Kerry win the U.S. presidential
election - especially traditional U.S. allies, according to a press release from
U.S. Newswire.
Only the Philippines, Nigeria, and Poland preferred U.S. President George W.
Bush. India and Thailand were divided. On average, Kerry was favored by greater
than a two-to-one margin - 46% to 20%.
GlobeScan conducted the poll of 34,330 people in May through August in
conjunction with the University of Maryland's Program on International Policy
Attitudes. The margin of error was plus or minus 2.3% to 5%.
"One in five want to see Bush reelected. Though he is not well known, Kerry
would win handily if the people of the world were to elect the U.S. president,"
said Steven Kull, PIPA director.

Kerry was strongly preferred among traditional U.S. allies. These included
Norway (74% for Kerry, 7% for Bush), Germany (74% versus 10%), France (64%
versus 5%), the Netherlands (63% versus 6%), Italy (58% versus 14%), and Spain
(45% versus 7%). In the U.K., Kerry was preferred by more than 30 points (47%
versus 16%). Among Canadians, Kerry was preferred by 61% versus 16%, and among
the Japanese by 43% to 23%.
Bush's European exception was a new ally, Poland, where he was preferred by a
narrow plurality of 31% versus 26% for Kerry. Bush was also favored in the
Philippines, with 57% of Filipinos preferring him to Kerry (32%), and in Nigeria
(33% for Bush versus 27% for Kerry).
Simply awesome and hoping to see this get some press coverage….but not counting on it…
