2. He's just from up the road
Midlothian is a suburb of Richmond.
I can't imagine what it must be like to see the official car pull up and the uniforms walking up to the door...
Tragic, just fuc*ing tragic.

I lived wiht that fear for five years while my husband served in the USN.... whenever they deployed that fear was there. After Sept 11, because of possible terrrorism, that fear was magnified by orders of magnitude

Mother Of Dead National Guardsman Calls George W. Bush A Murderer

CHICAGO -- The mother of an Illinois National Guard pilot killed in Iraq says she holds Dictator George W. Bush personally responsible for the death of her son.

Rosemarie Dietz Slavenas (pictured, left) blamed Bush and said her son died because the United States lacks civilized foreign policy.

"My son was not a soldier," Slavenas said. "He was my son. George Bush killed my son. I request in Brian's name a stop to the killing. No more preemptive wars."

6. INVESTIGATION?
Are they fucking kidding?
Our troops are facing guerilla war tactics!
Perhaps they have never read the manual on GT?
The whole point is, there is nothing to investigate.
The attackers are invisible among the general population.
Investigate what?
Thousands more will die.
Just like Nam.
Just like Nam.

11. No one should be there...
What is truly hoffific is that they KNOW
our troops are facing guerilla warfare and
that thousands are going to die- they know
that NO military force has EVER "won" on a
guerilla battlefield- they don't care.
They intend to keep sending more and more
young people to die; they will continue to
do so until they thye have control of the region.
They are willing to destoy the lives of thousands
for many years. Whatever it takes, huh George?

9. This is some scary stuff happenening
I keep thinking about the incident last month when the grieving father burned up the van after being notified of his son's death. The longer this war goes on, the pressure on family members is going to increase. The anger over the senseless deaths of sons, daughters, mothers and fathers is going to explode in ways that are very difficult to predict.

Not to mention those soldiers that will be lucky enough to make it home alive. They are going to be seriously pissed off. Imagine the impact of drug/alcohol abuse on these people. Many families that were not torn apart by the death of a soldier, are going to be torn apart by the mental damage from this obscenity.of a presidency and this obscenity of a war.

Yes, this is my second post at DU. Been lurking for a year.

GWB -- Worst President in American History. Period.

10. WELCOME TO DU Vogonity!
Even if you've been lurking for a year,
allow me to welcome you to the water
as a posting member.
I share your concern about the future
blowback. Combine the factors you listed
with the unknown side effects of the pharma
cartel drugs these people were forced to take
and lord knows what we are going to see.
I remember the crisis we saw in so many
families after Vietnam. Given the fact that
our society is even more stressful and the
worst persident ever has not allocated
sufficient resources for medical or mental
health care for the families and soldiers,
I think we are going to see tragedy on
a scale no one can imagine.
