No Reinstatement for Tulsa Race Riot Suit
DENVER -- A federal appeals court denied requests Wednesday to reinstate a lawsuit filed by hundreds of people affected by a race riot in Tulsa, Okla., in 1921.

A three-judge panel of the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the plaintiffs waited too long to sue the city, police and other officials.

The Denver-based court ruled the statute of limitations bars the lawsuit from proceeding. The decision upholds an earlier ruling by an Oklahoma district court.

"The Tulsa race riot represents a tragic chapter in out collective history," the appeals panel wrote. "While we have found no legal avenue exists through which plaintiffs can bring their claims, we take no great comfort in that conclusion."

1. The Tulsa Race Riot is a good model of post-9/11 global lynching.
This horror of white rage going militant and wiping out an entire African American community is what the endless 'justified war' on Terra reminds me of.

Dominance with impunity. Uncle Sam lynches the poor of the world.

2. I hope some day all Americans will be completely familiar with that story
It's crying out to be told. It could serve to guide and advise people about mob mentality, hatred, boundless self-importance, and disrespect for others: a lesson we desperately need to learn as a culture.

I have to admit I had NEVER heard of this horrendous, vicious war on an entire community until a few years ago. It has been suppressed very well, and it needs to be examined.

Some black business owners and professionals who had worked long and hard to create a place for themselves and their families were wiped out by the mob which destroyed their town, and their children and grandchildren never benefited from inheritance, better quality of life, etc., etc. All was lost.

What a shame.

3. Statute, smashute, plus no benny for *
Those judges knew damn well that had this atrocity been brought up to court within the fucking statute of limitations, the case would not have seen the light of day.

Yes this is another example of the atrocities committed against people of color in this great USA.

Doubt if Bush will not intervene in this -- UNLESS he really wants the vote in OK, which he has anyway, even without the black vote. It's a waste of time for him.
