WASHINGTON - The Bush administration said Wednesday it will put off until after the election a final decision on a plan to allow road building and logging on 58 million acres of remote forests where both are now prohibited.

1. The Environmentalists Were Betrayed By Bush.
He promised one thing and backed another. True flip flopper.

2. Part of the land is the Appalachian trail, tho the article didn't say it..
He wants to log from Virginia to Maine. I live along that trail.
Repubs are notoriously against any environmental issue that could
hinder their making a fast buck. If he gets re-elected, he will
start logging all that land. He is just on hold til this messy little election is over.:puke:

3. Remember the photo -op on Earth Day '01?
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 01:32 AM by PurityOfEssence
It's my fav-o-rite example of the tone deaf administration: Junior in jeans, a red plaid flannel shirt, smiling amid the snowflakes with a big ol' lumberjack's axe over his shoulder. On Earth Day, mind you; presumably his handlers didn't think a chainsaw was butch enough.

Lest we forget, too: what they really mean is putting off the announcement of the decision that was long since made. It's sort of like the "decision" about Hussein.

4. It matters not, as soon as the election is over
this policy will B changed 2 appease the corp contributors. He doesn't want the bad press that tags along w/ this change.
