This is serious. (on edit) Fully equipped. Soldiers uniforms missing too. Ramifications... great. One can slip through any checkpoint with a humvee...

35. They wouldn't need to do a Trojan Horse attack
All they'd have to do was mow down a couple crowds at markets from a distance, and have the population do the work for them.

4. well, i guess it's sorta serious if all stolen by one group
Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 09:12 PM by codegreen
that could use them in a single massive attack at a fortified post, or could use them to pose as US personnel and get to more secured areas than before... i'd say it's fairly serious militarily.

(edit) plus they could study one for weaknesses. i dunno.

26. Not sure how good a car bomb they would make
considering the armor that is on them, wouldn't that keep an explosion INSIDE it more than a normal car, assuming the bombs were packed inside it?

Oh that's right, a lot of the humvees we sent over were INADEQUATELY armored, at least the first ones going over.

Maybe they used 12 of them for parts, and for some reason would rather report them stolen.

28. Seeing as how they don't keep the explosion "outside" as it is I doubt it.
Will keep the explosion inside. The myth of the Humvee is killing our troops.

9. Reporter did say they weren't all stolen at once
and was kinda vague if any with GPS had been recovered.

But as reported with uniforms this sure would make it easier to penetrate a US base.

Scary.

15. That would explain Bush and his "crazy antics!"
He chokes on a pretzel and ends up with a black eye.

He poses with a fake turkey.

Crazy stuff comes out of his mouth like OBGYN love with women.

He falls off a segway.

Yep. This is definately a sitcom. Hogan's Heroes sounds right to me.

BTW, I love that bumpersticker!

Arnold probably stole them for his collection. But I think he'll need to have the pants shortened on the uniforms.

13. They could drive up to sleeping or eating quarters and blow the damn thing
Killing many more soldiers, rather than picking off one or two. After this happens be prepared for a lot of friendly fire deaths. This is a terrorists dream and a soldiers nightmare.

22. Is there a link yet?
Edited on Wed Sep-08-04 09:53 PM by Moonbeam_Starlight
If this is true, this IS pretty serious. So says Mr. Moonbeam, veteran of 12 years active duty Army, 1st Cav, 101st Airborne, 2nd Armored Division, 3rd Armored Division, 29th Infantry Regiment.

He said if they have been stolen from MPs, an infantry unit, combat engineers, or some such unit it is even more serious. They tend to keep more dangerous things on board, if you know what I mean. Support units don't carry as heavy of loads of weapons.

He doubts it would be armored.

Anywho. Wish there was more info or a link.

On edit: are there also servicemembers missing?

38. It was reported on the Aaron Brown show, but it did not sound as if..
the thefts had occurred at the same time. Brown asked the reporter in Iraq that, and he said they had not. He was making the point that the insurgents have the equipment & vehicles to pass thru US checkpoints w/o trouble, more so than reporting on an event which had just occurred. But the fact that they have the stuff is bad enough.
