Bush took cocaine at Camp David
Edited on Mon Sep-06-04 02:25 PM by JoFerret
http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/allnews/tm_objectid=14609301&method=full&siteid=50143&headline=bush--took-cocaine-at-camp-david--name_page.html

GEORGE W Bush snorted cocaine at Camp David, a new book claims.

His wife Laura also allegedly tried cannabis in her youth.

Author Kitty Kelley says in her biography The Family: The Real Story of the Bush Dynasty, that the US President first used coke at university in the mid-1960s.

She quotes his former sister-in-law Sharon Bush who claims: "Bush did coke at Camp David when his father was President, and not just once either."

Other acquaintances allege that as a 26-year-old National Guard, Bush "liked to sneak out back for a joint or into the bathroom for a line of cocaine".

Bwahahahah - guess that's enough information to pass the "some people are saying" test employed in:

I want to see those photo's of Bush's face all scratched and bruised from his bike wipe out with Purple Heart band aids on his cuts!
If someone can do this, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Caption should read, "Look Vets, I earned a Purple Heart too!"

that he is back on the bottle.
(Does that pass the truth test?)
I have also heard he is has him taking anti-depressants to help him handle his psychotic episodes, sadistic streaks, temper tantrums and meglamania (prescribed by a Dr. Tubb.)
I think these stories need to be denied before I disbelief in them.
Has Dr. Tubb denied them or has he hidden behind patient confidentiality?
His fear of horses is deep-seated and arises from a visit to a farm in Connecticut when he saw strange things in the barnyard. His mother has NEVER denied these allegations.

99. here's a link to a story about Dr. Tubb
http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artman/publish/article_4921.shtml

"Bush Taking Anti-Depressants
By TERESA HAMPTON
Editor, Capitol Hill Blue
Jul 28, 2004, 06:13
President George W. Bush is anti-depressant drugs to control his erratic behavior, Capitol Hill Blue has learned.

The prescription drugs were administered by Col. Richard J. Tubb, the White House physician.
Tubb prescribed the anti-depressants after Bush stalked off stage on July 7, refusing to answer reporters' questions about his relationship with indicted Enron executive Kenneth J. Lay."

this has been out there since the end of July. i consider the source to be credible, and i haven't heard any denials, but then i never saw this go mainstream, either

106. (sheepishly) Uh, I might have had something to do with that.
I was certain he went back on the sauce when I saw a strangely jovial and unsteady George Bush hanging off of a fireman amidst the wreckage of the World Trade Center.

I was convinced the President was drunk. I pointed it out to my friend, who agreed. When I finally got home to my job on Rhode Island Ave., I mentioned it to others. I said it online.

DC is a pretty small town and the rumor mill can circulate fast. It wasn't too long before other people started telling me the same story, only by then it was a fact that Bush was drinking again, rather than a suspicion.

The thing is, I had suspicions of my own--suspicions that I was wrong. Now I think that our notoriously clumsy President was simply losing his footing on a ridiculously precarious perch, as can be seen in this photo.

Yes, the President is still the worst ever, right down to having the gall to climb up on a pile of rubble-mixed-with-dead-Americans for a photo opportunity. But I no longer think he was drunk that day, and if you heard that rumor in DC, well, I'm sorry for it, though I might be only one of many responsible for it.

I've had it. We cannot take the damn high road or it will lead us all off a cliff. American politics has become a nasty street fight. Time to defend ourselves NOW by all legal (if unetiical, coarse, and nasty) means, or things will get violent, I believe. And that will be worse.

The sheep need to be led to water. I am so fed up with my fellow citizens that I almost (almost) wish Bush upon them, except that I've got a family of my own and no immediate prospect of moving to Holland or Sweden.

i totally agree. stories need to be vetted and be shown to be credible. if they are, the freeps and the neos and the thugs make a big noise about one lie. or one error.
most of the right wing in this country seem to have such a teeny tiny capacity to assimilate complex stories, and throwing more crap out there just distacts them and muddies the waters.

also, the real message "Bush Must Go" is abandoned...

7. It don't matter no-how
Y'see, George is a born-again Christian and they are allowed to do any nasty deed mankind can think up and the Republicans will forgive him. Christians are allowed to make mistakes. Democrats, on the other hand, will be tarred and feathered for their mistakes for the rest of their lives. Just ask Teddy Kennedy. That's 'cause Democrats are inherently evil, God-hating, devils.

65. Biblical smugness and reversing tactics on Rove et al
Yes on the smugness thing. There are a number of warnings, beginning with John 15:1-6, which lays part of the general foundation of the conduct of a Christian's life. This is the "true vine" passage. Jesus has much to say on the subject of hypocrisy in the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 5-7. Most of the Epistles of Paul to the various churches touch on the subject of acceptable behavior from a Christian perspective. Almost all of these things point to the need for a humble bearing.

II Peter 2 ought to give a great deal of pause - especially in the passage concerning Balaam, the OT prophet in the Book of Numbers, who "loved gain from wrongdoing." (Note: Balaam was restrained from his madness by a donkey that spoke to him - Numbers 22.) This administration is extremely reminiscent of Balaam, from my perspective.

What is magnificent about John Kerry is that while he has repeatedly said that George W. Bush is wrong, misguided, underinformed, and whatnot, he's pretty well restrained himself thus far from the kind of snide ad hominem attacks that have marked the Republican side of the debate. To this I refer to I Peter 3:9. Yo, Karl Rove, give this a listen: "Do not return evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary bless, for to this you have been called, that you may obtain a blessing." There is a real Christian running, but it ain't the one you might be led to think!

Bush has attacked one of Kerry's strengths - his military record. Bush's record as a Christian is extremely vulnerable (anyone remember in 2000 how Bush boasted on national TV about how Texas executed prisoners?? The lack of ability to remember mistakes? and more others than I have time to list?) and could be hammered in a very straightforward way. It has been the conventional wisdom for Democrats to attack Republicans at their weak spots. Meanwhile, Rove and the boys have made political hay by doing just the opposite - attacking points of strength.

John Kerry, as a dissenting Catholic, is in a unique position: he can speak on the importance of respecting diversity of various faiths from his own experience of intolerance, and yet address Bush directly for errors which to most thinking Christians should be flat-out obvious. Bush cannot speak to either point with credence. I really wish Kerry would do this, because it would do two things: it would rout the conservative Christians out of their far-right corner and force them to justify their opinions in comparison to the tenets of their faith, and more importantly, it would hit an area Bush clearly considers unassailable. True, it would galvanize the hardcore right-wingers, but it would also do the one thing that the Democrats have failed to do - it would force these people to define who they really are in the light of scrutiny. It ain't what you say, it's what you do (the entire book of James covers this point) and what I've seen done does not, frankly, measure to the standard. And a galvanized bunch of right-wingers might be exactly the bomb that could blow apart the centrists who are leaning toward Bush. There are a lot of people who dislike Bush but who think that the Democrats are far-left wild-eyed lunatics. Let them see the bigger nutfudges on the right, and they might wonder what kind of a country those people would like to see. Trust me, they'll run like hell. (I sure did.)

12. Yes, but.
I understand that they'll try to pass this off as "old" news, ... when I was young and foolish ..., etc., and that since it (maybe) all happened before * was "born again" it doesn't really matter.

But somebody ought to be able to use it to raise significant doubts. Maybe all that cocaine is why he wasn't paying attention to the PDB that warned about Bin Laden. Maybe that's why he pulled that goofy Iraq invasion instead of chasing al Quaeda as a less addled leader would do. We can't really expect to crack the true believers anyway. But maybe enough in the middle can be convinced he has to go.

Poppy was prez from 88-92.

Bush is, what, 57?

Do the math - in '88, he was 43. At the earliest point in time this could have occurred, he was three years past when he supposedly 'grew up.'

This isn't enough to bring him down, but it's sure as hell enough to sow doubt among a lot of people.

This is gonna be fun.

67. I think it's important to people who aren't b.a.c.terrorists and
therefore don't think of their lives (or anyone else's) in terms of before and after, they only think of it in terms of hypocrisy.

I believe dems need to blitz back with everthing we have; people whom I know who voted for Nader in order to to 'take the high road' unwittingly aided and abetted what became the Iraq war, and the deaths of tens of thousands of innocents. There is a difference between 'taking the high road' and APPEARING TO 'take the high road' and I think God, whomever that may be, expects people to look way down the road, and ask themselves just whom they are trying to appear all holy for, and who they are REALLY trying to help. God is a really sophisticated entity I think, I think we should think more like gypsies regarding politics,i.e. the universe gave me this info, and I'm a gonna use it and put it out there somewhere.

...who did not have ANY respect for organized religion, used to tell me how Christians (particularly Catholics) could go out on Saturday night and kill someone, then confess their sins on Sunday morning and be forgiven, getting them back in line for the "glorious hereafter."

I suppose the time in between the sin and confession was pretty "iffy." You sure didn't want to take any chances that might make it difficult or impossible to make it to confession!

30. George Bush now caught in a MAJOR LIE !!!
During campaign 2000, Bush stated the following in response to questions about cocaine usage:

“Not only could I pass the background check and the standards applied to today’s White House, but I could have passed the background check and the standards applied on the most stringent conditions when my dad was President -- 15-year period.”

If Sharon Bush witnessed George Bush repeatedly using cocaine at camp David while Poppy was President, then this is a major lie by Bush and a major deception pulled on the American people. Let both Sharon Bush and George Bush now take lie detector tests and see which one passes and which one fails.

38. Has Bush ever admitted to using drugs other than alcohol?
I thought he explicitly claimed he never had. Which changes the issue to the old problem: it's not what you did back then, but whether you're lying about it right now. The WH already seems to be covering their ass, but they seem to have this base pretty well covered. If this is it, no cigar.

Bush has admitted being an alcoholic but, asked during the 1999 election if he did drugs, he said: "I've told the American people that years ago I made some mistakes.

"I've learned from my mistakes and should I be fortunate enough to become president I will bring dignity and honour to the office."

Later an aide clarified his remarks saying Bush hadn't taken illegal drugs in the past 25 years.

49. That won't happen
You know as well as I do that the rules for libel are different for public personalities than they are for us mere mortals. One does not get more public that President of the United States, even if, properly speaking, the office was gained by subterfuge and no one should address the Frat Boy by that title.

Far be it for me to defend Bush, but he can't sue Ms. Kelley for anything she says unless he can demonstrate that she knew it was false when whe published it. That's nearly impossible.

It's also why Kerry would have a hard time suing the Swift Boat Liars, although he would seem to have a better case. Those creeps have got to know that they're lying.

47. FreeRepublic's Jim Robinson on the President and Cocaine
Now that we know Kittle Kelley's new book reveals that George W. Bush snorted cocaine at Camp David, let's revisit the sage words of Free Republic founder Jim Robinson:
To: Freedom Wins

So, it doesn't matter if he snorted coke as a youth? It was a long time ago, a youthful in-discretion? Kinda like people who frequented sneakeasies during prohibition? Kind of a cute story, eh? Well, how about all the people whose lives have been destroyed by being arrested for the felony of drug possession? What about the millions of people who are rotting away in your filthy drug infested prisons at this very moment?

Well, by God, if you people insist on electing another cokehead as President, you damned well better throw open all the prison cell doors and free every man, woman, and child you're holding on drug charges. And if you're gonna elect another drug felon as President, you'd better rescind each and every one of your unconstitutional drug laws now on the books, including all of your unconstitutional search and seizure laws, and your asset forfeiture laws, and your laws that enable your unconstitutional snooping into our bank accounts and cash transactions. Well, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. You people are sick! Conservatives my ass. You people are nothing but a bunch of non-thinking hypocrits! You're a shame and a disgrace to the Republic!

And, I, for one, am tired of taking orders from cokeheads and felons! Elect another one and I'll tell you what. I'll be ready for war! It'll be time to take up arms and run the filthy lying bastards out!

Posted on 08/20/1999 03:19:31 PDT by Jim Robinson
Can't wait to see how he tries to backtrack from that rant!

60. Doubt that.
Kitty Kelley is a best-selling author (you can quibble about what she writes, but not the numbers she moves).

'ET' and 'Access Hollywood' and all those tabloid shows that all those swing voters watch will be all over this. Doubleday is a huge publishing house, and they know how to roll out a book. You can bet she'll be on Larry King Live, because Larry and Kitty are pals.

Disappear? Shit, this thing's got monster-truck-sized wheels. Way, way bigger than the Swiftie book - and it's aimed right at the people that could possibly swing away from Bush in huge numbers.
