College Tailgate Takes Tragic Turn (Two Murdered)
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP)

Two young men — one a Marine Corps officer — were shot to death Saturday at a tailgate party before a college football game, and authorities were searching for two suspects. ..

A witness, Brian Smith, 31, said the men had been tossing a football when a car drove recklessly in a parking lot packed with football fans. He said the men pulled the blond-haired driver from his car and beat him, pushing his head into the dirt.

The blond man left in his car, shouting curses and threatening revenge, Smith said. He returned later and asked Smith where to find the men who had beaten him, saying he had "a .38 Smith & Wesson for them."

Smith, who said the man appeared intoxicated, pointed in the direction of the victims and heard gunshots a short time later.

Smith ran to the shooting scene and found one victim wounded in the face, the other in the upper torso. "My reaction is that I got two guys killed," Smith said. ..

1. Why in the world did Smith
tell the guy the general direction of where the fellows were? I would have said, "I don't know, man", and then called the cops. Drunken people can do some really stupid things, especially when they have guns.

Especially since he "appeared intoxicated" and actually said to Smith that he had a gun "for them!" Smith should have said, "Those pussies pulled out of here the minute they were sure you were gone. And you'd better go, too, because they said they were going straight the cops." Mission accomplished!

2. Once again, the legal drug alcohol, rears its ugly head.
Meanwhile, thousands of peaceful pot smokers rot in prison.

6. What's your point?
The relative negative effect of alchohol is far more destructive than pot, yet the War Against Some Drugs continues its purpose of criminalizing a large percentage of the population.

You are free to be gay, why are you for opression of The People?

...but keep your mouth shut until? is that your point? That is the attitude that they use on us gays. Laws are changed by , quite franky , rabble rousing. As the gays say: silence is death or some such.

You were dissing me for pointing out the inequality of the laws supporting the War Against Some Drugs, so you are supporting the repressive law.

8. Sorry, his point is right.
Alcohol is far more destructive to our society than marijuana. The facts bear that out.

The RELATIVE negative effect ON EACH INDIVIDUAL is far more toxic and pronounced with alcohol.

27. Do you truly think that alcohol is more widely used than pot?
In North American society I would estimate that pot usage and alcohol usage among the age groups of 19-25 is pretty equal. Just a general observation and estimation based on personal experiences and anecdotal evidence.

30. Dear chengod
not everyone is 19 to 25 however. At 59 I find that most of the people I know would rather drink these days. Many are ex smokers;not I, however.

34. Funny thing....I still smoke, too.
It's availability that makes most older potsmokers, ex-smokers, I think. Everytime I offer an ex-smoker, they seem to relish the opportunity! :-)

As far as my system goes, I'd rather smoke a doob and drink a cranberry juice. I find my body's tolerance for alcohol gets less the older I get.

5. where were the cops during the initial confrontation?
He said the men pulled the blond-haired driver from his car and beat him, pushing his head into the dirt.

Nice bit of vigilantism on the part of the guys who were killed. Not trying to defend this drunk asshole, but the cops should have been informed. Instead, these guys took it upon themselves to mete out justice.

Who knows? All I know is that when I see assholes driving through parking lots at 50 mph, and I'm walking my pregnant wife in to the grocery store, I want to smash their faces in the dirt. This ENTIRE incident, first part and second, is the murderering psychotic drunk fuck's fault. I hope he gets raped in prison every day.

9. A story of assholes and idiots....
An asshole endangers lives; he is beaten and humiliated by two other assholes. Later, he and a fellow asshole returns to the scene where an idiot steers him back to his attackers. He kills them, flees, and the idiot gets his mug on television...."I'm going to cry later when nobody's looking". Once the murderers are found, the state will try them and the public will pay for their keep for the next 40 or 50 years.

Nobody comes out of this one looking good.

they deserve to be arrested or cited, depending on the situation.

If they get their asses kicked, they feel justified in going and getting a gun and shooting at people for kicking their ass, as this story demonstrates.

Think about it, indeed.

obviously he deserved in fact to get killed instead of beat up. That way the state would save some money, and the two guys who were trying to protect their fellow tailgaters would still be alive. Now that wasn't clear at the moment, so I can't blame the poor souls.

puttin the guy into a hospital the first time. If you've got a tiger by it's tail, you don't let go. Obviously he's the kind of person that deserves whatever is coming to him.
