THEN RETRACTS:
audio of cheers:

3. Hmmm...I heard boos. Not a lot.
"They didn't boo. More accurately, the overwhelming number of people didn't boo"

vs.

"there was a big intake of breath and some loud "oohs" in the crowd. It was unmistakably shock. No boos."

Which was it. Some or none? And who yells out "ooooh!" really loud?

4. Sounded More Like "Woos"
FWIW.

You never know, the people applauding may have been applauding the illness. But. ..I'd want to hear more of the whole thing.

I don't hear any retraction.

8. He meant that the AP said peeople booed, and then said people
ooohed in horror, but I think people are "Woo"-ing to applaud Bush ("Woo" being an alternative to "Yay") so the AP got it wrong twice.

cheering for Bush.

Like instead of "Yay" for Bush, they went "Whooo" for Bush.

6. it sounded like the 'hoot'
that his followers do. I have seen the speech several times on the tele. They show bush wishing President Clinton recovery but the audiences reaction is not included.

7. I didn't hear any of it, but if they are like my step-brother

they are all convinced that the Clintons are the only thing that stands in their way of world domination forever!!

Get fixed up real soon President Clinton.

9. Neither booing nor cheering someone's hospitalization makes any ...
... moral sense to me. Illness and death are somber events. IMHO, it's a form of political necrophilia to (1) cheer, (2) boo, or (3) shove over 6 days of wall-to-wall media coverage down the public's throat on every channel and station.

I personally regarded Paul & Sheila Wellstone's (and others) Memorial Service to be just right ... and I'd say that if they were Republicans or Communists, too. It wasn't "four-walled" on the tube. It wasn't dragged on for over 6 days. And it celebrated that to which their lives were dedicated: public service, family, community, and friends.

I've become convinced there are an enormous number of (neo)conservatives and some number of liberals and muddled-roaders whose inconsistent and partisan-drenched opinions on this aren't worth a thimble of warm spit.

17. Agreed TahitiNut.
There were many here who gleefully cheered Rush's drug problem, and partied the day Regan died. Any sense of decorum has been lost in America for a long time.

12. On tonights news ...
... they show the clip of Bush offering his pathos but ended fast, clipping Bush's last words. My guess is to avoid the crowd reaction.

16. They weren't boos.
It was definately more like the begining of a cheer or something similar. Much as I would love to have this to use against the "compassionate conservatives" it simply isn't to be. Not that we don't a tons more left to use against them.
