Christian Coalition of AL. Responds to Chief Justice Roy Moore Suspension
Compare Justice to the Book of Daniel, chapter 6
Christian Coalition of Alabama Responds to Chief Justice Roy Moore's Suspension

This News Release is from the Christian Coalition of Alabama:

Chief Justice Roy Moore was suspended by a judicial ethics panel Friday for his refusal to obey a federal court order to remove his Ten Commandments monument from the Alabama Judicial Building rotunda. Moore was automatically suspended with pay when the nine-member Judicial Inquiry Commission referred the ethics complaint against Moore to the Court of the Judiciary, which holds trial-like proceedings and can discipline and remove judges.

Christian Coalition of Alabama President John Giles stated, "This is a very sobering moment for Alabama and America. This is not just a tremor; it is an earthquake that will shake America from the east coast to the west coast. The Judicial Inquiry Commission made a very serious mistake today in removing one of America's finest. This is far from over. We have only just begun".

The Christian Coalition of Alabama calls on people from across Alabama and across America to come to Montgomery and show their support for God's law and Chief Justice Roy Moore.

In the Book of Daniel, chapter 6, a similar event occurred: 3 Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. 4 At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. 5 Finally these men said, "We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God."

As a result, Daniel was then thrown into the lion's den but was miraculously rescued by God.

Today, a similar situation has occurred in Alabama. Chief Justice Roy Moore has stated: "Let me assure you. The fight to defend our constitutional rights to acknowledge God must and will continue. The point is, it's not about violation of order, it's about violation of my oath of office, and my oath of office to the Constitution requires an acknowledgment of God. It's that simple."

May God have mercy on Alabama for persecuting a righteous man.

1. Blah blah blah
They can't mentally deal with a substantive case, so they focus on one loudmouthed radical and a slab of marble. That's an issue that the rubes can wrap their minds around...

5. Hey, that's a good idea....
Let's throw Mr. Moore into a den of hungry, vicious lions. If the lions get him, then obviously god was not really on his side. However, if he really is as pious as he claims, then god should quickly step in and rescue him from the lions.

The best part is that I bet that you could get FOX to make it into a TV show. People have been complaining about the quality of FOX's TV lineup, this will allow them to make the claim that they are showing more religeous programming.

It's a win, win for everyone.

9. What I don't get is how
this judge, who is supposed to interpret the law, can just ignore a court order? Shouldn't they do more than just suspend him? What would happen to an ordinary citizen who acted as Moore has acted?

21. He's getting more than a suspension
I read on MSNBC that he is being suspended until a hearing from the Ethics Committee. Something like this could probably get him disbarred.

10. They have a constituional right to recognize a god

To Judge Roy Moore I say this, it is a right, not an obligation. That I think would make this a thoecracy if it were an obligation. It is separation of church and state. Second it does not say that your religious symbols need to be forced on others, it says you have the right to worship God, you are not obligated to worship. Third it does not say which god you have the right to worship. That is called fredom of religion. I either have no understanding of the Constitution of the U.S. or you are a relgious zealot. Maybe it is a little of both.

13. Justice Moore lies.
Article Vi of the US Constitution:

" This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding.

The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the members of the several state legislatures, and all executive and judicial officers, both of the United States and of the several states, shall be bound by oath or affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States. "

The Constitution trumps the Bible.

26. Of course he lies
He is a right wing ideologue. He does not know of what he speaks, even though it is his job. He is driven by ideology, not intelligence. As president Clinton said at the U of Arkansas a few months back: When your in a hole, most people know to quit digging. The problem with people driven by idiology is they ask for a bigger shovel, because they know it is down there.

14. Got news for you judge
No oath for any office in the US requires that you say 'so help me god' at the end. It's just a little thing slipped in by the fundies over the years. Maybe I'd help if he read the constitution once before firing his mouth off about what it says.

15. Those people

need to get over themselves. Not something that wingnut Southern old men have been doing much of lately, let alone enough.

As for earthquakes, I point them to March 1999. It already happened, they can fight but they can't win even this theater of the political/cultural war.

I believe in Iraq people like these are being referred to as "bitter-enders". We see the bitter, we shall see the end too.

Edited on Sat Aug-23-03 02:04 AM by Democat
The people who wrote that press release are religious fanatics, and probably dangerous just like many of the religious fanatics in other parts of the world.

There is nothing wrong with religious people, but fanatics often cause problems.

32. Is Moore a "Biblical Reconstructionist"?
These are the Rushdooney (sp) loonies who want to replace the Constitution with Biblical Law. I'd bet that Moore is one.

If he is this should be aired far and wide. Apparently Ashcroft is a BR as well. These bastards really want to do away with the Constitution altogether.
