Clerk Fooled by Bill With Bush's Picture
GREENSBURG, Pa. -- State police aren't laughing about the person who allegedly passed some funny money -- a $200 bill with President Bush's picture on it -- at a women's clothing store.

snip.......

Among other things, the bill had a hokey serial number -- DUBYA4U2001 -- and didn't bear the signature of the secretary of the treasury. Instead, the bill was "signed" by Ronald Reagan, whose title was "Political Mentor" and by Bush's father, who is listed as "Campaign Advisor and Mentor."

The back of the bill was even goofier.

It depicted the White House with several signs erected on the lawn, including those reading "We Like Broccoli" and "USA Deserves A Tax Cut."

1. Someone Passed One Of Those Bills in Kentucky A While Back
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 10:48 AM by CO Liberal
At a Dairy Queen. The moran clerk even gave them $197.88 in change...

Moron Passed $200 Bogus Bill

We're not sure who is more at fault? The person passing the obviously bogus $200 bill bearing the likeness of President George W. Bush or the dizzy Dairy Queen cashier who accepted the money.

Police in Kentucky are searching for the person who used the phony bill to buy $2.12 worth of food, driving away in tears, no doubt, with $197.88 in real change.

6. Both these incidents sound like PR hoaxes to get free advertising
In the three months following media coverage in the stores' local markets, don't you think consumers' awareness of the stores' presence would skyrocket? This sounds like Bushonomics meeting Guerilla Marketing, desperate attempts to keep stores from closing and to save clerks' jobs.

$198 well spent, IMO.

2. dammit! i want to see that bill!
would be damn funny... Maybe we should make some joke money for the chimp, like all those 3 dollar bills that had Clinton's face on it years ago. That would be a good test to see if the GOP has a sense of humor.

3. How dumb was the clerk that accepted a denomination that doesn't
even exist, much less is obviously phony? Must have been a Republican in training.

5. When I worked as a waitress....
I had a girl nearly get into a FIST FIGHT with me over the "reality" of a Two Dollar Bill. She swore that there was no way, no how that a $2 bill existed. I told her she was flat out stupid and that $2 bills have been around for quite some time, and that I had a whole collection of them from when I was younger (my family would collect the older editions with the red ink for me).

She called me a GODDAM LOONY and nearly punched me in the face. Luckily, my boss was nearby and did verify that there were such things as $2 bills.

And, I kid you not, about a month later, this same waitress who KNEW there were no such things as $2 bills ACCEPTED a phony $40 (yes, FORTY) dollar bill from a patron who was passing funny munny. The boss asked when there had ever, EVER in our history been a Forty Dollar Bill, and she gave a vapid stare and said "Well, I thought it was the same as 2 Twenties".

She was supposedly a pre-med student, btw.

9. Good story - I like the twos myself and always keep a
bunch of them because I think they make interesting tips. I used to do the same with the Susie dollars, but I don't like the gold-tone dollar coins. Although twos are rare in trade, they are commonly available at the bank if you ask. Haven't seen a 40 in a long time though.

4. I can't figure out which of the three has the least cognitive thing going
The clerk, the fraudulent patron or the dude on the bogus cash. But If they do a survey I am voting for this guy
